The MySQL Community conversation continues this fall with two opportunities to connect, share feedback, and help shape the future of MySQL. 

Following the recent Contributor Summits and Public Discussions, we are continuing to expand practical ways for users, developers, DBAs, partners, and contributors to participate in technical discussions, share ideas, and collaborate more openly across the MySQL ecosystem. 

In October, we will host MySQL Public Discussion #6. In November, the next MySQL Contributor Summit will take place as a fully online event, making it easier for contributors around the world to participate. 

MySQL Public Discussion #6 

Thursday, October 22, 2026 

Public Discussion #6 will focus on MySQL Community Engagement & Metrics, while continuing the conversation around MySQL Community participation, roadmap transparency, GitHub collaboration, governance, and the next steps for the MySQL community.

The session will provide updates from recent community activities and leave time for questions, feedback, and open discussion with the MySQL team. Whether you are a MySQL user, developer, DBA, community organizer, partner, or open source contributor, we encourage you to join and share your perspective.

Join MySQL Public Discussion #6 

MySQL Contributor Summit — November 4–5, 2026 

The next MySQL Contributor Summit will be held fully online on Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 5, 2026. 

The Summit brings together contributors from across the MySQL ecosystem to present technical proposals, share implementation progress, discuss design considerations, and identify practical next steps for collaboration. We welcome proposals related to MySQL Community Edition, including areas such as AI and vector capabilities, performance and observability, replication and high availability, extensibility, developer experience, documentation, and community processes. 

Presentations should be technical and discussion-oriented, with a focus on the proposed feature or improvement, key design considerations, and open questions where community feedback can help move the work forward. 

Submit a proposal 

To propose a session, please submit the related feature request through the MySQL Community GitHub repository using the appropriate new-feature proposal template. 

Please then send the following information to the MySQL Community team by Monday, October 19, 2026: 

  • Title of the proposal 
  • A brief abstract of the presentation (one or two sentences) 
  • Bug ID or GitHub Issue ID for the related feature request

Continuing the Conversation 

The MySQL Community continues to grow through many forms of participation: technical proposals, code contributions, testing, documentation, design feedback, production experience, bug reports, feature requests, and community outreach. 

Public Discussions and Contributor Summits are places to bring those perspectives together. We look forward to welcoming both new and returning participants this fall and to continuing the conversation through GitHub and the wider MySQL Community. 

As the inaugural MySQL Steering Committee begins its work, it will help strengthen collaboration across the MySQL ecosystem and provide long-term technical and community guidance. Further updates will be shared as the Committee’s work progresses.
