Herbert Bonifacio had high hopes when joining Oracle fresh from university. Eagerly looking to move up the tech career ladder, he was pleasantly surprised by the plentiful opportunities for growth available for young people at the world’s largest provider of business solutions. Despite only just finishing up his studies, he saw the chance to learn on the job and develop himself into the employee he wanted to be. The Oracle Utilities Global Business Unit team member is sharing how he’s making the most of life with us.

Opportunities for upskilling

Bridging the initial gap between graduate and fully-fledged employee, Oracle places a lot of emphasis on learning and developing the essential skills necessary for success.

“We’re given access to multiple courses and training paths that are in line with our specific job description. There are also consistent expectations in what technologies to learn as well as certifications to take. Also, Oracle has been providing training all throughout the year, for technical skills, as well as personal development,” Herbert explains.

It’s not only the resources and training that help new graduates prosper but also the positive atmosphere and helpful colleagues.

“From initially being part of the team alongside fellow graduates that are eager to learn, to being surrounded by team members that are easy to approach and helpful, Oracle has managed to create a workplace that will encourage you to do your best work, at your own pace,” the new hire continues.

Diversity leads to innovation

Here, we don’t just respect differences, we celebrate them. Striving towards a more diverse and inclusive workforce results in a broadened horizon approach to innovation. This attitude means more opportunity for all, and every voice being heard no matter what.

“Oracle has always been very vocal in providing opportunities to everyone without bias to gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that could be used to discriminate against a specific individual. They’ve been consistently providing orientations to raise awareness on possible discriminatory acts,” emphasizes Herbert.

Herbert’s words of hindsight

Having spent time with us, Herbert’s offering up some pearls of wisdom to any graduate looking to come create the future with Oracle.

He says, “Oracle UGBU is a great place to start and work on your IT consultancy career. As a graduate, comprehensive and necessary trainings will be provided before being part of a team. The experience will definitely leave an impact on the development of our own personal and technical skills.”
