Read on to learn about Oracle Hospitality’s unique apprentice team lead program, how we retain talent and support career development, and the benefits of a flexible work-life balance.

Growing from within
We believe in investing in employee growth and skill development and offer a range of training opportunities to help you succeed. Internal mobility matters to us, and we always encourage employees to explore different career opportunities and take on new challenges within Oracle.
This has paid off in several ways for Vina Villamar. Vina joined us back in 2021, and in that time has climbed the ranks from implementation consultant to her current role as implementation manager thanks to Oracle Hospitality’s team lead apprenticeship – a program designed to prepare future leaders aspiring to be people managers.
In just about a year, she was able to bootstrap her way up to management thanks to hands-on experience and in-depth learning supports.
“My superiors are very supportive and make sure that I have all the knowledge and training needed for me to succeed,” she explains. “They have also encouraged me to attend courses and trainings for leadership, which I can use to benefit the team as well.”
Today, she’s integral to her team’s success in delivering Oracle OPERA projects for global customers. Each day, she’s surrounded by people with world-class skills in hotel and front office operations. It’s an experience that continues to impress Vina, while driving her to achieve even more in her own career.

Learning to lead
Roy Royandoyan, a technical consultant currently on the apprentice team lead track himself, shares her optimism. It’s easy to see why—he’s seen his skillset expand at a dizzying rate since coming onboard thanks to the support of his team.
“I’ve loved the collaborative environment and the emphasis on continuous learning,” he explains. “I started out focused on delivering projects day-to-day, which really helped me get a grasp of the technical landscape.”
As his abilities grew, so did his responsibilities. Soon, Roy found himself singled out for a fresh growth opportunity.
“I moved into a team lead role , where I had the chance to lead, mentor, and collaborate with an exceptional high-performing team,” he shares. “Oracle provides a wealth of resources tailored to different needs. As a new team lead, I’ve found the courses on Degreed particularly beneficial for enhancing my leadership skills.”

Rising to the challenge
Combined with professional development resources is leadership’s dedication to developing their people. We don’t leave career development to chance, and as long as we know about your ambitions, we’re ready to help you reach them. Face-to-face relationships and knowledge-sharing play a big part in this.
“My manager serves as a mentor, guiding me through best practices for managing my team and handling escalations,” Roy explains. “Whenever I have any doubts, he provides valuable assistance.”
Jaycee Fernandez also credits her apprentice leadership experience for her promotion from implementation consultant to team lead.
Now, she oversees several team members and operations and enjoys the learning opportunities that come with this new challenge.

Empowering internal talent
Jerson Arona meanwhile, has been promoted three times since joining Oracle Hospitality in 2017 and even transferred from Singapore to New Zealand along the way.
“Oracle’s commitment to internal mobility has been instrumental in my career progression. Instead of seeking external candidates, the management recognised my potential and entrusted me with leading a newly formed team in the Philippines.”
Furthermore, when Jerson made the decision to relocate to New Zealand, he had unwavering support from the company. This led to a seamless transfer that allowed him to maintain his role.
Teamwork and collaboration
Professional development stories like these wouldn’t be possible without a culture built on collaboration, inclusion, and mutual respect. We work together to solve problems, share ideas, and support each other in our personal and professional challenges.
“Everyone genuinely supports one another and collaborates openly. It’s a place where ideas are valued, and people are encouraged to contribute and innovate,” Roy adds.
Jaycee agrees, highlighting a type of teamwork that doesn’t silo knowledge. This leads to solutions that go much deeper than surface-level tinkering. “We work together to identify the root cause of issues and brainstorm solutions,” she explains. This way, when a solution arrives, it’s a 360-answer that uses many different disciplines and perspectives.
Outside of work, the vibe is all about team well-being. People strive to be compassionate and empathetic, while also ensuring that we meet the needs of the business and still produce quality work. Work-life balance is a big part of that equation.

working from home
Work-life flexibility
We understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements to support our employees’ needs. With remote work options, you can work from the comfort of your own home and have more time for yourself and your loved ones.
Vina describes this culture in action: “Our team respects life outside work and makes an effort to keep work conversations within the designated hours of work. I really appreciate that I can have uninterrupted time with my family and friends after work and on weekends.”
This freedom to work remotely translates into big and small efficiencies that lead to even better outcomes on the job, too.
Trust
“Instead of spending that time traveling to the office, I can take care of myself and have more rest. I can do more in terms of work as I can be as comfortable as I can while working. I can set up my workspace however I like and blast music as loud as I want without disturbing anyone else to help me focus!”
Meanwhile, Jerson appreciates the mature, regular communication that draws the team together. This willingness to share, he feels, “fosters a safe space to confide and seek assistance when needed,” which keeps bonds strong while working flexibly.
Jaycee sees it as a sense of trust in the team that empowers her “to work in a way that meets my needs by having the flexibility to manage my schedule, access to the resources and support I need, and the autonomy to make decisions that align with both my personal well-being and professional goals.” It’s an approach that lets her balance her responsibilities while staying motivated and productive.

Perks of the job
Realistic targets also ensure consultants don’t get overwhelmed and have the space to contribute excellent work, Roy feels. At Oracle Hospitality, we understand that our consultants are our greatest asset, so we’ve created a work environment that reflects that.
This gives people like Jaycee the ability to make the most of our training benefits on the path to management. We also offer a comprehensive, flexible benefits package, including a wide range of training opportunities, to support our consultants’ professional growth and adaptation to evolving industry needs.
It’s clear that if you’re looking for a career that offers growth, flexibility, and collaboration, you have a place here. We’ll leave the last word to Jaycee.
“At Oracle, with the culture I mentioned above, all you need to do is work with passion, and the magic will come out naturally.”
