The challenge is the opportunity
Javier Hernandez, a software developer and one of our former interns at the Mexico Development Center, says the scale of the opportunity was too good to pass up. “I chose Oracle because, honestly, it was a challenge,” he explains. Javier mainly wanted to understand how software works inside a large company and how teams build products at major scale. What he found was that and more.

Interns do a lot more than observe when they come on board. They learn by contributing. Younes Aref, one of our software development interns in the United States, describes the experience as truly becoming part of the team. “Everyone trusts me as if I were a regular full-time employee,” he adds.
Real work, real confidence
For Madhu Chandar, another former intern who is now an associate consultant with Oracle India, that trust became true ownership of a complex technical project. “I got a chance to architect the entire pipeline and implement it, from preparing the data to training the model and finally testing it for accuracy,” he says.
Meanwhile, Angela Aguilar saw her work move beyond the project stage to real-world impact. “After I finished my project, they actually deployed it. It was a really nice experience to feel that what I worked on during my internship was useful and needed by my team.”
It’s moments like these when learning turns into proof. Oracle interns can see what they’re capable of, understand how their work connects to wider goals, and leave with examples they can carry into the next stage of their careers—inside or outside of Oracle.
Supporting every step
Of course, rising to new challenges is easier when people are there to guide you. The Oracle intern experience includes a project supervisor, a peer mentor, and intern buddies, creating several ways for interns to ask questions and find their footing.
Joel Beauregard felt that support on both a career and personal level. “They truly care about your growth, not only professionally, but personally,” he says.
Noor Nabeela describes growth as an ongoing part of the experience: “Every week comes with a new challenge, and every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow here.” She also credits her mentors and teammates with helping her learn independently without feeling alone in the process.
Kimberly Mathieu says the experience helped her connect learning with a clearer view of her future. “I’ve grown during my internship by making new connections with people at Oracle and learning more about what it means to be a software engineer and a developer.”
Built around people
Technical learning is only one part of launching a career. Internships also give people a first look at how they want to work, who they want to learn from, and what kind of team helps them do their best work. For Taryn Pucknell, the answer lies with people. “Everyone is so nice, so genuine, and so helpful. It’s just a great atmosphere.”
Talking, spending time together, and getting to know new people, those connections can make a new workplace feel more welcoming, while also creating a network of peers who are learning together.
Angela, meanwhile, found another kind of belonging: freedom to contribute her point of view. She says her team is open to hearing what she has to share. And it’s that space to ask, suggest, and learn that turns an internship into a two-way experience.
A path that keeps growing
Ultimately, the future grows from what’s sown in the past, and these kinds of intern stories have a way of coming full circle. Take Landry Kezebou, who moved from an Oracle internship into a full-time technical role and later helped mentor new interns.
In many ways, the most powerful step of all is taking that first step. Javier’s advice to future interns is direct: “Give it your best shot. Try to learn as much as you can.” Angela adds an equally useful reminder: “Be yourself. Ask a lot of questions.” It’s timeless advice that pays off everywhere from the intern experience to the boardroom and beyond.
