Successful careers are built on solid foundations—at Oracle, campus hires have the unique opportunity to participate in our Global Tech Program, a development experience designed to help new engineers and developers make connections, find opportunities, and grow expertise. During their first year, participants enjoy robust onboarding, skill boost sessions, mentoring and volunteering activities.

from around the world
The highlight of the Global Tech Program is the signature All-In event, a one-of-a-kind virtual experience dedicated to engaging, inspiring, and empowering our next generation of innovators. It included keynote speakers, an executive panel, a choose-your-own-adventure quest, and an interactive DJ. Read on for takeaways and discover how the Global Tech Program can help you maximize your career potential.
Personal agency
All-In wasn’t a typical Zoom call; it wasn’t a call at all. All-In was an interactive and engaging experience that included 250 campus hires from around the world.
During the opening, the host invited participants to consider their locus of control and personal agency. He emphasized that loading up on skills is important, whether it be through training sessions or hands-on problem solving. What matters even more, he continued, is being in control of your decisions and having the courage to act when you feel unsure.
Self-discovery
Anje Dodson, SVP of human resources, added that your decisions allow you to understand your strengths better, so you can lean into them. The more you discover about yourself, the more you can say yes to new opportunities. Problem solving is extremely rewarding when you’re solving problems that matter to you. Oracle empowers students and graduates to make a real impact in areas they care about.

Kay Malcom and Win Chang
Finding what you want to do isn’t always easy, though. Kay Malcolm, senior director of database product management, shared how her career journey was full of twists and turns. For 13 years, she wanted to break into product management. Each wall she ran into was a lesson she had to learn to thrive in her current position.
“It felt uncomfortable,” she said. “But what was really happening was I was being forced out of my comfort zone. I was being forced to grow and change.”
Find your impact
Samar Lotia, SVP of Oracle Analytics, reminded participants that you must be patient to see the fruits of your labor. Furthermore, there are many ways to measure the impact you make—from the impact on the product to the impact on the lives of you and your team. Finding your impact is key to building motivation in your career.
Samar had much to learn from his peers and senior colleagues in his first year at the company.
“It was easy to be all-in with the things that I’m good at,” he recalled. “It was hard to be all-in with the things that I’m not good at that I’m learning. And for me, the big lesson was that I can’t do this on my own.”
One bite at a time
Building your career means always looking for the right opportunity to step up, but what do you do when professional goals clash with life priorities? Win Chang, director of government and education solution engineering, explained that to have it all, you need to take one bite at a time. It’s smart to consider where you are personally when planning professional moves.

adventure quest
“Everybody wants to have this linear trajectory of their career,” she said. “But sometimes making that left hand turn is the right thing for you.”
Growth and opportunity
After the executive panel, it was time for the choose-your-own-adventure quest, during which participants made choices to guide story characters and determine their fates. Throughout the interactive quest, participants were also asked to reflect on how this story might inform their work and lives. The experience demonstrated the value of seeking out expertise, being aware of influence, using advice as a starting point, and taking external input with a grain of salt.
Finally, participants heard from New York Times bestselling author and Co-head of the ADP Research Institute Marcus Buckingham. According to Marcus, highly successful people take their loves seriously. Love fuels growth and grows most in response to other people. The more people see you, the more you’ll flourish.

Co-Head, ADP Research Institute
“You’re going to want to find those activities that you love, weave them into strengths, because that’s where you’re going to make uniquely different creative, innovative contribution. That’s where you’re going to stand out,” he said.
The event concluded as it began with an interactive DJ streaming live from New York City, giving participants the chance to connect with their peers.
