We often think of careers as journeys. We set a destination, equip ourselves with skills, and venture toward our goals. But along the way, there are places to rest, recharge, and discover new directions.
Oracle Financial Services (OFSS) is one such place. This division, specializing in the dynamic challenges of the financial sector, boasts a vibrant culture to match. Through its collaborative team ethos, OFSS empowers institutions and careers alike. We spoke to individuals with unique career paths within OFSS to understand why it’s such a fulfilling destination for those shaping the future of finance.

Nagaraj’s internal advantage
As Director of Software Development, Nagaraj Chickballapur is a key member of the team who found his niche through Oracle’s Advantage YOU internal mobility program. It’s all part of our internal first approach and ensures that we prioritize our people for new positions. After 20 years at Oracle, Nagaraj knew exactly where to go to develop his already impressive skills.
“Moving to OFSS from another division within Oracle was a meaningful and fulfilling experience – an opportunity to reconnect with a familiar environment, embark on new challenges, and grow personally and professionally,” he explains.
OFSS enjoys a stellar reputation in a sector where reliability and effectiveness are crucial—something that made Nagaraj’s decision to pursue an internal move that much easier. “Oracle holds 15% of the financial industry market share and plays a crucial role in shaping the future of banking, insurance, and other financial sectors,” he explains.
“And there are lots of positives to the culture, like our commitment to inclusion, and employee well-being. I was drawn to the ample opportunities for career growth and development at OFSS, and the ability to drive positive impact through my leadership role. These factors all influenced my decision to join OFSS.”

Ramya’s return
For some, OFSS holds a special appeal that lures them back even after they’ve moved on in their careers. Ramya Rao, a principal consultant who rejoined after two years away, shares why.
“I came back because of the work culture and the ability to have a healthy work-life balance,” she shares. “I also get to work with much more demanding challenges and up-to-date technologies.”
In many ways it’s been like coming home and Ramya appreciates the familiar faces of colleagues who continued their Oracle adventures in the meantime.
“I was very happy to have my old team and friends back! And I was happy to return to a workplace with such employee friendly policies. The work culture really is the best.”

what’s changed about OFSS
Homecoming
Ramachandran Ravi, one of our consulting technical managers, tells a similar story. He returned to OFSS after a decade away building new skills.
“I left OFSS for a role with travel to client sites. I felt that without knowing the implementation process on the client site, my product learning was incomplete. Back then, product team members couldn’t join the implementation team!”
He describes his return as being like a homecoming too, with many of his old friends in exciting new roles. The culture has also evolved, and he’s keen to point out the comprehensive benefits.
“Many things changed. The feedback mechanism has changed for the better. Health benefits, education reimbursements, professional association reimbursements—they’re all even better now. The hybrid work model is also very much an improvement for employees.”
Along with this is a flourishing approach to ownership over career direction. Leadership has never been more accessible, and he feels that he’s more empowered than ever to make significant decisions. “I can reach out two or three leadership levels higher without any need for special protocols,” he explains.

Venus’s long-term growth
A lot can change in business in 16 years and that goes double for tech. Gnana Venus Lazarus, has seen several transformations over the years. She’s also led many of her own as a managing principal consultant and Oracle Women’s Leadership community lead.
“I would say that I was born and brought up in OFSS!” she explains. “I started off as a junior developer then I became part of the team and then a team lead and then a project manager.”
This potential for growth has kept Venus engaged and reaching for the next goal. There’s a dedication to customer satisfaction that’s its own reward—a “100% focus” on solutions for customers and their clients, but there’s more too. “You have a lot of resources at your fingertips here if you want to make use of them. And if you are willing to learn, there is no place like it,” she says.
It comes as no surprise. ‘One Oracle’, a powerful commitment to the customer and collaboration continues to energize Oracle’s global operations since its launch. Now, our solutions are reaching more people, transforming more lives, and empowering our people like never before.
