Business process automation is most powerful when it brings together the right mix of APIs, orchestration, human exception handling, and UI automation.
That is exactly the pattern Equinix is applying with Oracle Integration.
I’m excited to share a new Oracle reference architecture that highlights how Equinix uses Oracle Integration, Oracle Integration RPA, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to automate finance business processes across Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP.
The architecture showcases a hybrid automation model where Oracle Integration serves as the central orchestration layer. Oracle Integration handles scheduling, data extraction, orchestration, API calls, error handling, status polling, and notifications. Oracle Integration RPA robots perform the UI-based actions that are not exposed through APIs. OCI instance pools provide elastic robot runtime capacity, while Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP remains the business system of record.
The reference architecture includes two production-oriented automation patterns:
1. Customer credit recommendations in Oracle Receivables
This use case demonstrates how Equinix migrated from a traditional RPA approach to Oracle Integration RPA. Oracle Integration coordinates report extraction, robot execution, status tracking, exception handling, and notifications. Robots help update credit recommendations in Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP where UI action is required.
2. Payment batch automation in Oracle Payables
This use case shows a new Oracle Integration RPA implementation driven by Oracle Visual Builder configuration. Oracle Integration orchestrates payment batch creation, validation, exception routing, API-based status checks, and notifications to help support time-sensitive finance operations.
What makes this architecture especially useful is its reusable hybrid automation pattern:
- Use APIs wherever they are available.
- Use RPA robots only for UI actions that APIs do not cover.
- Centralize orchestration, monitoring, and error handling in Oracle Integration.
- Scale robot runtime capacity elastically with OCI instance pools.
- Keep Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP as the trusted system of record.
For organizations modernizing automation, this pattern helps reduce reliance on standalone RPA platforms and brings API automation, UI automation, observability, exception handling, and cloud scaling into a unified Oracle automation architecture.
