We launched Oracle Database@AWS in partnership with Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) in September 2024 at Oracle CloudWorld. This service is revolutionary in offering customers access to Oracle Exadata Database on Dedicated Infrastructure within AWS with unified administration, operations, billing, and customer support. Placing Oracle Database on optimized Exadata hardware directly in AWS data centers enables low-latency, high-speed access connectivity between Oracle enterprise capabilities and AWS cloud native services, such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q, and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).

Since the announcement, Oracle and AWS have been working with a number of customers in our Limited Preview phase to refine the offer and onboarding process. We’ve built a complete OCI child site within the AWS US East (N. Virginia) Region, integrated the offering into the AWS Management Console, connected our respective virtual network technologies, added monitoring into Amazon CloudWatch, and placed Oracle Database@AWS on the AWS Marketplace for consolidated billing.

But we’ve been moving fast and continuing our momentum to enhance the offering even more based on customer feedback.

We’ve added integration with AWS Transit Gateway allowing customers to leverage an expanded set of connectivity options. Customers are now able to connect their applications running in different AWS Availability Zones and Regions as well as on-premises applications to Exadata hardware running in AWS as part of the Oracle Database@AWS offering.

Oracle Exadata is well known for its high availability and resilience capabilities. To support our customers’ needs for disaster recovery we’ve launched support for Exadata in a second AWS Availability Zone in the AWS US East (N. Virginia) Region. Customers can now perform cross-availability zone disaster recovery as well as connect their applications hosted within this second availability zone to their Exadata as part of Oracle Database@AWS with low latency access.

In January 2025, we announced the latest-generation Oracle Exadata X11M. We’re thrilled that we have immediately incorporated this generation into Oracle Database@AWS to provide unparallel performance and capability. This will allow customers of Oracle Database@AWS to get greater value through accelerated performance, increased efficiency, and sustainability. Exadata X11M also enables enhanced features such as AI Vector Search that accelerates AI workloads by up to 30X.

We’re excited to continue working directly with customers as we move towards general availability in 2025. Teams from Oracle and AWS will be at Oracle CloudWorld Tour New York City on May 6 and at AWS Summit New York City on July 16. If you are planning on attending, our product teams would be thrilled to meet with you. Drop by our booths, and for an extended conversation, please reach out to your account team to set up a dedicated conversation.
