Oracle Cloud VMware Solution (OCVS) is evolving to align with Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) license portability entitlement model, enabling customers to apply eligible VCF subscription entitlements when deploying VMware workloads on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This evolution reinforces a consistent operating model across on-premises, hybrid, and OCI environments while preserving the dedicated infrastructure and operational experience OCVS customers rely on today.
What’s Changing
Oracle is evolving Oracle Cloud VMware Solution (OCVS) so that the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) software used with the service is licensed using the customer’s own eligible VCF subscription entitlements purchased directly from Broadcom or an authorized reseller. This aligns OCVS with Broadcom’s VCF license portability model while preserving the same dedicated infrastructure and operational experience customers rely on today.
Oracle will work closely with customers to support a smooth, customer-aligned transition to the new model based on their environment, readiness, and timing. Existing environments will continue to operate without disruption, and customers will have a clear, supported path forward as the program progresses.
“Oracle Cloud VMware Solution is built to give customers choice without compromise. This update reaffirms our commitment to protecting customer investments while delivering the performance, isolation, and control they expect from OCI.”
— K. Papamiltiadis (kp), Oracle SVP – OCI Partnerships
Why It Matters
This transition reinforces Oracle’s commitment to flexibility, consistency, and investment protection. By aligning OCVS to Broadcom’s VCF License Portability model, customers can:
- Simplify licensing management across environments
- Maintain operational consistency between on-premises VMware deployments and OCI
- Continue leveraging OCI’s high-performance, dedicated VMware infrastructure
- Adopt a model aligned to Broadcom’s VCF licensing framework
What Customers Can Expect
Oracle and Broadcom are working closely to ensure a smooth transition experience, with clear guidance for existing customers and flexible options for future deployments and renewals.
“Our collaboration with Oracle will further empower customers to extend their modern private clouds to public cloud infrastructure, by enabling further integrations between VCF and Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. With VCF license portability, Broadcom empowers customers with a single, unified private cloud platform that supports all applications — from traditional to modern and AI-based — with a consistent experience across their data centers, edge, and Oracle Cloud infrastructure.”
– Abhay Kumar, Global Head of Managed Services in the VCF Division of Broadcom
