Empowering Enterprise IT to Create Kubernetes-enabled Shared Services on OCI

Bonnie Donovan
Principal Product Manager

Apprenda has worked with Oracle to integrate, test, and deliver its Apprenda Cloud Platform on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Apprenda helps developers to 'cloud-enable' existing/legacy applications without having to change code, which makes it much easier for them to turn existing applications into highly available, elastic and containerized solutions.

The Apprenda cloud platform spans Linux and Windows servers and provides operational controls to rapidly deploy a wide range of enterprise applications in containers. With the platform developers can deploy their existing and cloud native custom-built applications on a variety of architectures, from traditional monolithic to modern cloud-native applications, micro services and/or containerized applications.

Tasks that used to take hours, days or even weeks can now be done in seconds. Developers can focus on their code and applications while Apprenda’s platform abstracts the infrastructure details such as servers, load balancers, and storage.  Additionally, Apprenda enables IT organizations to create policies and rules regarding how a particular infrastructure is going to be consumed.

Apprenda leverages Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to assist its customers in the following use cases:

  • Enable hybrid clouds, including the ability to move containers between onprem and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in a seamless fashion
  • Enable enterprise IT to create and offer a Kubernetes-enabled shared service to developers across business units
  • A single policy-driven operational control plane for both cloud native and existing applications
  • Provide developers with a self-service application/container deployment platform leveraging Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

To help you get started, Apprenda provides a free Jump Start lab environment where customers can experience a step-by-step guide with sample applications covering a variety of technologies (.NET, Java, SQL Server, Oracle, Docker and Kubernetes). That way you can see how easy it is to leverage Apprenda and Oracle to move existing and legacy applications to the cloud and make them highly available, elastic and containerized.
