At CloudNativeCon North America 2018 this week in Seattle, we are announcing a new service, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Notifications. Notifications is a fully managed, durable, and secure pub-sub messaging service that broadcasts your messages to a large number of distributed applications at scale. It eliminates polling overhead by pushing messages to your subscribers' endpoints. Notifications delivers secure, highly reliable, low latency, and durable messages for applications hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and externally. It empowers you to send notifications and to integrate distributed systems and microservices.
Here are some of the many possible uses for Notifications:
Operational alerts
You can use Notifications to receive notifications triggered by your applications' alerts. For example, you can configure Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Alarms to send notifications to a Notifications topic. Then, you can subscribe to the topic by using either email or PagerDuty.
Application integration
In this "fan-out" scenario, you can send your application events to a Notifications topic. Then, Notifications pushes the messages to all subscriptions. For example, in a freight-management application, any change in freight status can be broadcast via Notifications to multiple applications to initiate a process or notify a customer.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Notifications will be generally available in early 2019, but we are currently providing access to selected customers through our Cloud Native Limited Availability Program. To learn more about Notifications or to request access, please register.
