A Learning Boost: Technical Professionals Join the Classroom at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies/Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics.
In response to a request from faculty teacher Associate Professor Anda Belciu (Velicanu), PhD, at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Oracle Academy Romania and a team of Oracle Romania technical colleagues had the opportunity to contribute to an insightful session aimed at deepening students’ understanding of Oracle APEX.
The event was initiated after the teacher Anda Belciu noticed a need for more practical or advanced insight into the Oracle APEX during the Databases – Support for Business Master courses. With a clear goal to bridge the academic and technical gap, we collaborated closely with the department to design a session that was informative, interactive, and engaging.
On 5 June 2025, took place an online event where Roxana Popa, Data Developer EMEA Chief Technology Officer & Architecture and Andreea Dobre, Database Developer Tools and Access Dev did an interactive presentation with live demo and Roxana Chiriacescu, Senior Account Cloud Engineer – Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Stefan Dobre, Database Developer Tools and Access Dev helped with the Q&A session.
Our Oracle Romania colleagues comprising professionals with hands-on experience in APEX— developed a structured presentation and demonstration tailored to the students’ curriculum. The session included:
- Interactive Presentations
- Live Demos showcasing how tools and technologies are used.
- Q&A Session where students could clarify doubts and engage in open discussions.
We were thrilled by the enthusiasm and curiosity of the students. Their active participation made the session not just a one-way lecture, but a dynamic exchange of ideas. It was encouraging to see students connect theoretical learning with practical application.
“I am grateful for everyone’s incredible effort in making the APEX Low-Code workshop a success! The students were fully engaged, shared their work online, and felt truly inspired. Each session with Oracle Romania’s team is not only a teaching moment but also a learning experience for all of us.” – said faculty teacher Anda Belciu
“It was a truly fantastic experience leading an Oracle APEX workshop together with my colleagues, and I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the students’ enthusiasm. Their solid foundational knowledge was evident, which not only amplified their engagement but also ensured the hands-on lab progressed seamlessly. This experience reinforced my belief that linking concepts to real-world applications significantly impacts learning.” – said Roxana Popa.
“It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to present together with my colleagues the Oracle APEX Workshop in front of an engaging audience. The students were proactive, understanding the key concepts of the labs and expressed a deep interest in the product overall. Happy to see so many universities encouraging their students in learning the latest technologies and incorporating them successfully in their curricula.”- said Andreea Dobre.
“Students asked insightful questions, demonstrating a genuine interest in understanding the capabilities of APEX and its practical applications. They were particularly intrigued by the real-life use cases presented, which showcased how APEX streamlines application development and enhances productivity.” – said Roxana Chiriacescu
“This workshop offered by Oracle gave me the opportunity to refresh my knowledge and learn many new features, although I had some prior experience with Oracle APEX. What I’ve always found most interesting about APEX is the multiple ways to approach application requirements. These different options provided by APEX were clearly explained as we followed the steps to create and modify an application, with details full of useful information. Of course, just as for every programmer the greatest reward is having a fully functional final application, I can say that what I enjoyed the most was seeing the new application I created, filled with various useful features and ready to use.” – said student Costan Cristiana.
We’d like to thank the faculty for the opportunity and to our Oracle colleagues for their wonderful workshop and we look forward to more such collaborations in the future to support education with real-world insights.
