The Talent Scouting Academy (TSA) is a part of the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) Program conducted by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) Indonesia to help university students develop hard and soft skill capabilities in the ICT field. TSA is a part of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology's Independent Campus Program. Through the TSA program, students are able to gain technical knowledge and experience learning outside of their higher education environment, including exposure to curriculum-based learning from global technology companies (GTC) with the latest, cutting-edge, and globally recognized technological developments.

Oracle, through Oracle Academy, is one of MCIT GTC partners that takes part in this initiative. With Oracle Academy, TSA launched seven course topics, including Database Foundations, Database Design and Programming with SQL, Java Fundamentals, Java Foundations, Java Programming, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations, and Primavera P6 Professional Project Management Fundamentals.

The Head of the Center for Professional Development and Certification, MCIT, Dr. Ir. Hedi M. Idris, M.Sc, said in his opening remarks at a recent event on the program: “In 2020 Oracle was the second largest software company by revenue and market capitalization in the world, one of the leading global technology companies. We must master such technologies, so we can go global. We know Oracle as the owner of Java technology, but in TSA Oracle Academy also offers the latest courses such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations and Primavera P6 Professional Project Management Fundamentals,” he said. “Students are able to learn and get hands-on practice through Oracle APEX and the Oracle Academy Cloud Program, which provides access to Oracle Cloud Free Tier. Throughout the courses, students gain core knowledge of cloud, how it works with databases, and security, administration, monitoring, and management. This ready-to-use course provides the resources to teach students knowledge and skill developments with practice in the project management gold standard, Oracle Primavera P6.

Anton Susanto, as Head of the TSA Working Team, stated, “The topic courses are held with the support of 57 faculty members from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, Lambung Mangkurat University, Mercu Buana University, Metamedia University, Riau University, Telkom University, Balikpapan State Polytechnic, Batam State Polytechnic, and Padang State Polytechnic, and will be attended by 1,725 selected students. The university engagements with MCI and the Oracle partnership are expected to be able to create synergies that contribute to reduce the gap between the education’s supply and industry demand,” he said.

Nurul Huda, Program Manager of Oracle Academy in Indonesia, who also presented at the 2023 TSA opening, explained that “Oracle Academy has previously been involved in the Fresh Graduate Academy (FGA) and Professional Academy (Pro A) under the Digital Talent Scholarship program, and is now taking part in the TSA program. This initiative is in line with the Oracle Academy mission and continues Oracle’s commitment to education,” she said. “Providing educators with free teaching and learning resources, including curriculum, cloud, software, and professional development helps them prepare their students with knowledge, hands-on practice, and career-relevant skills.”

The MCIT of the Republic of Indonesia is the Indonesian government agency in charge of telecommunication, broadcasting, information technology, and public communication and information affairs. It works toward a better future for all Indonesians and developing a world-class Indonesian communications and information technology sector.
