Oracle Academy and Oracle Korea co-hosted “Oracle Dev Day with Oracle Academy” at the Oracle Seoul office on March 20, 2026, welcoming approximately 80 aspiring developers from Oracle Academy member institutions for an intensive four-hour program. Featuring six guest speakers, the event delivered practical, career-focused guidance and hands-on technical learning designed to help students bridge academic learning with real-world cloud and AI-era expectations.

The energy in the room reflected the mindset of a generation preparing for a rapidly changing job market. Throughout the day, participants engaged in continuous Q&A and in-depth discussion, extending the program beyond its scheduled end time. Oracle speakers shared candid lessons from their own career journeys, along with actionable insights to help students develop resilient, growth-oriented capabilities—creating an experience participants described as both inspiring and highly practical.

Oracle Academy resources and Oracle technology accelerate career readiness beyond the classroom

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Jangyoung Wee, VP in Tech Cloud Sales, highlighting Oracle’s commitment to nurturing future talent through industry-relevant learning opportunities and community engagement.

Next, Jean Shin, Oracle Academy Program Manager, introduced key program teaching and learning resources that support students as they prepare for careers. Her session covered the Oracle Academy Career and Learning Resources, guidance on professional certifications aligned to curriculum, ways to participate in the Oracle Community, and an Oracle Academy Work-Ready Program developed in collaboration with Oracle partners. She emphasized students can structure their learning and portfolio-building efforts in a way that aligns with real hiring expectations.

During the first half of the program, Jeong Cheon Lee, Tech Cloud Game Team, shared his journey of joining Oracle as a non-computer science major. He encouraged students to view software development not as an innate trait, but as a capability built through consistent practice, learning from setbacks and ongoing self-reflection. His message reinforced that sustainable growth—rather than perfection—creates long-term momentum in technical careers.

The program also featured Youngmin Park, an external Oracle DBA and Oracle ACE Pro, who spoke from the perspective of an active community leader collaborating with Oracle. He emphasized two fundamentals for early-career engineers: strengthening core concepts through coursework while continuously tracking new technology trends, and the value of “recordkeeping the process”—writing small programs regularly, documenting errors and fixes, and capturing learnings over time. According to Youngmin, this habit helps developers turn daily work into measurable growth, and it becomes a powerful asset when demonstrating skills to employers. He further noted that the ACE Community’s collaboration with Oracle can accelerate learning and broaden opportunities within the broader IT ecosystem.

Live OCI demos bring cloud skills to life

In the second half of the event, Donghee Lee, Principal Cloud Specialist Engineer, led a demo-focused session introducing cloud computing fundamentals and highlighting key capabilities of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), as well as Oracle’s globally distributed datacenter footprint.

Donghee demonstrated core OCI workflows, including creating Linux virtual machines, running, deleting, and restoring containers, deploying applications on OKE (OCI Kubernetes Engine), and accessing VM instances via SSH to run application servers. Importantly, he emphasized that students’ hands-on practice using their own student cloud accounts is essential for building real proficiency—not theory alone.

The event concluded with a session titled “Cloud Engineer in the Age of AI,” presented by Eunhie Kim, Master Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect. Eunhie introduced Oracle’s leadership and organization, and explained Oracle’s evolution as a full-stack cloud provider delivering infrastructure, platform, and SaaS. She also outlined how AI-driven shifts are changing enterprise cloud environments and internal team structures—and what that means for the skills, responsibilities, and mindset expected of today’s cloud engineers.

Positive feedback from academia and the community

Youngmin shared that it was meaningful to contribute alongside Oracle speakers as an external expert, adding that he has taken pride in his ongoing journey with Oracle as he has grown within the global Oracle ACE community.

Woonghee Lee, Professor at Dongguk University, expressed appreciation for the event’s practical value, noting that Oracle’s real-world perspectives provided students with a rare and impactful learning opportunity. He also suggested future sessions that bring together faculty and Oracle professionals to discuss challenges in higher education and explore deeper collaboration between industry and academia.

행사는 Tech Cloud Sales 조직의 위장영 부사장 인사말로 시작되었습니다. 이어 Oracle Academy Program Manager인 신지현 부장은 Oracle Academy의 경력 및 학습리소스, 커리큘럼과 연계된 전문 자격증 안내, Oracle Community 참여 방법, 그리고 오라클 파트너사와 협업 중인 인턴십/신입 연계 프로그램 등을 소개하며, 학생들이 교실 밖에서도 체계적으로 커리어를 준비할 수 있는 방법을 설명하였습니다.

전반 세션에서, Tech Cloud Game Team의 이정천 대표는 컴퓨터공학 비전공자로서 오라클에 합류하기까지의 과정을 공유하며, 개발자는 타고나는 존재가 아니라 실패와 자아성찰을 통해 꾸준히 만들어지는 성장형 역량임을 전달하였습니다.

외부 오라클 DBA이자 Oracle ACE Pro 로 활동 중인 박영민 전문가는 커뮤니티 리더로서 오라클과 협업해온 경험을 바탕으로, 예비 개발자와 엔지니어가 대학 수업을 통해 기본기를 탄탄히 다지는 동시에 새로운 기술 흐름을 꾸준히 접해야 한다고 강조하였습니다. 또한 작은 프로그램이라도 지속적으로 작성하고, 오류 분석과 해결책을 정리하며, 완벽한 결과물(Product)보다 성장의 과정(Process)을 축적하는 ‘기록’의 중요성을 강조하였습니다. 아울러 ACE Community가 오라클과의 긴밀한 협업을 통해 IT 생태계에서 성장 속도를 크게 앞당길 수 있는 강점도 함께 공유하였습니다.

클라우드 스킬을 실제로 활용하는 라이브 OCI데모

후반 세션에서는 Cloud Engineering Team의 이동희 부장이 데모 세션을 진행하였습니다. 이동희 부장은 클라우드 컴퓨팅 개요와 함께 OCI(Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)의 주요 기능, 그리고 전 세계에 분포한 Oracle Datacenter 를 소개하였습니다. 이어서 Linux VM 생성, 컨테이너 실행/삭제 및 복구, OKE(OCI Kubernetes Engine) 를 활용한 애플리케이션 배포, SSH를 통한 VM 접속 및 앱 서버 실행 등 OCI 핵심 기능을 시연하였습니다. 특히 참석자들이 보유한 학생 계정 기반 클라우드 환경을 활용하는 등, 단순한 이론을 넘어 실제로 체득하는 경험의 중요성을 강조하였습니다.

마지막으로 Master Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect인 김은희 상무는 ‘AI 시대 Cloud Engineer’ 를 주제로 발표를 진행하였습니다. 김은희 상무는 오라클의 리더십과 조직을 소개하고, Infrastructure, Platform, SaaS를 모두 제공하는 Full Stack Cloud Provider로서 오라클의 제품·서비스 변화를 설명하였습니다. 또한 AI 시대의 클라우드 환경 변화에 따라 기업 내부 역할이 어떻게 달라지는지, 그리고 그 변화 속에서 Cloud Engineer에게 요구되는 역량과 역할을 구체적으로 제시하여 참석자들의 이해를 도왔습니다.
