Oracle contributed to critical conversations on sustainability, AI and workforce readiness at the 4th Edition of the Global Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (GDSAI) Summit hosted by iLabAfrica Centre at Strathmore University, Nairobi, highlighting the importance of building AI systems that are responsible, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable.
Oracle joined industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, and innovators at the summit, themed ‘harnessing Generative AI and big data ecosystems for resilience, innovation, and transformation across diverse sectors’, exploring how emerging technologies can drive sustainable growth and digital transformation across Africa.
A key highlight of the summit was Oracle’s keynote session delivered by Winnie Jumba, Global Sustainability Ambassador, Africa at Oracle. Her presentation, ‘Future-proofing Africa’s workforce for the AI era & food security’, focused on the growing intersection between artificial intelligence, sustainability, workforce development, and climate resilience.
During her keynote, Winnie emphasized that as AI becomes increasingly embedded in society, organizations must think beyond innovation alone and prioritize purpose, ethics, and environmental responsibility. She explored the rapid evolution of AI from static and structured systems to dynamic, context-aware technologies capable of transforming industries and public services. One of the standout messages from the session was the reminder that “AI shouldn’t replace human intelligence—AI should amplify human intent.”
She also highlighted how Oracle Academy continues to support educators and institutions by providing faculty members with access to free teaching and learning resources through the Oracle Academy program. The program’s resources enable educators to integrate industry-relevant digital skills into teaching and learning while preparing students for the evolving demands of the AI-driven workforce.
Oracle’s participation at GDSAI 2025 reinforced its commitment to advancing sustainable innovation, responsible AI adoption, and digital skills development across Africa while helping shape a future where technology drives inclusive and meaningful impact.
