In December 2022, Oracle Academy collaborated with Kilimanjaro Blind Trust Africa Kenya and Innovate Now to hold its Tech4All Summit in commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The one-day program aimed to help youth interact, learn, grow, and develop accessible and general tech solutions to real life challenges. It also aimed to provide a platform for participants to learn how technology can be used to create innovations that are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities, children, expectant mothers, and the elderly.
The event was open to innovators, students, learners, teachers, startups, policy makers, industry professionals, and investors. The lineup of activities included keynote sessions, panel discussions, exhibitions, paper presentations, workshops, and demo sessions.
At this year’s conference, Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub Saharan Africa, Bekere Amassoma stated how Oracle Academy is promoting technology for youth through free Oracle Academy teaching and learning resources such as curriculum, cloud, Career Learning Resources Center, and the Oracle Academy Member Hub learning management system. These resources help address the global digital skills gap by providing educators and their students with key technology knowledge, skills, access to the latest technologies, and hands-on experience.
Later, Innovate Now presented Oracle Academy with a Recognition Award in cognizance of its role as a tech frontier for youth in Kenya. Amassoma said, “This important award shows that Oracle Academy’s hard work and commitment is recognized and valued by Kenyan education stakeholders. It also gives us the support to keep on investing and committing towards the educational landscape in the country of Kenya.”
