Oracle Academy sponsored and participated in the Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS) National Convention, April 27–29, 2026, themed ‘Innovation and Digital Transformation’. The conference featured inspiring keynote sessions, innovative showcases, workshops, networking opportunities and an award night. NACOS is the umbrella body for students studying computer science, computer engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, and all IT-related courses in Nigeria.
Oracle Academy Program Manager, SSA, Bekere Amassoma, joined the event as a speaker. In her presentation titled, ‘Empowering Digital Innovation Through Cloud and Database Technologies’, she discussed the concepts and meaning of innovation and digital transformation; the modern product stack which usually consists of users, apps, APIs and services, cloud platform and more; cloud computing basics; and how databases power digital transformation. She also explained how to choose the right data store for a project and practical ‘starter architecture’ that students can implement for solving many real-world problems. She talked about security, how to build secure applications, and responsible innovation — because digital transformation depends on trust — and highlighted a skills roadmap that undergraduate students can adopt.
She thereafter presented the Oracle Academy free program benefits and the Oracle Academy Cloud Program: an always-free cloud offering that is available to students.
Later, Oracle Academy was awarded the ‘Award of National Impact’ presented by the Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS) at its 2026 National Convention. The award recognizes Oracle Academy’s outstanding contribution to advancing technology education, digital skills development, and career readiness for students across Nigeria. The award celebrates the program’s sustained collaborations with academic institutions, its support for educators, and its role in equipping thousands of students with industry-relevant computing, cloud, AI, and database skills that strengthen Nigeria’s digital talent pipeline.
By providing cutting-edge curriculum, mentorship programs, and initiatives such as coding workshops, hackathons, and digital transformation projects in the country, Oracle Academy has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to shaping the future of Nigeria’s tech landscape. Oracle Academy also provides professional development opportunities for teachers and helps other stakeholders in the education system bridge the gap between academia and the technology industry.
