In celebration of International Girls in ICT Day 2025, Oracle Academy collaborated with Heels and Tech and The Destiny Trust Foundation to support the Jasmine Discovers Tech global book reading event. The Jasmine Discovers Tech book reading initiative was designed by Heels and Tech to introduce girls ages 8–16 to the world of technology and ignite their interest in becoming future tech leaders and innovators.

April 23, 2025, Oracle Academy hosted 38 girls from The Destiny Trust Foundation at the Oracle Lagos office for an engaging book reading session. The three-hour session featured book readings by accomplished mentors, a lively panel discussion, and interactive Q&A sessions.

The book reading welcomed four remarkable guest mentors who read one chapter each of the book to the participants:

  • Shashika Ramsamy – Financial Services Consulting Sales Director, Banking & Insurance, Africa, Oracle
  • Janet Kamau Marketing Director, Africa, Oracle
  • Deborah Shoyele The Destiny Trust Foundation
  • Bisola Alabi – Founder, Heels and Tech

During the book reading session, the mentors shared excerpts from the Jasmine Discovers Tech book, offering the girls a glimpse into the creative and impactful side of technology.

Later, a panel session, moderated by Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub Saharan Africa, explored the diverse opportunities in technology beyond traditional coding roles. The mentors were joined by Audrey Odogu, Business Development Manager at eHealth Africa.

The mentors discussed how technology touches every industry, from healthcare to marketing, and how each participant can find their unique path in this dynamic field. They emphasized the importance of nurturing both technical and non-technical skills, like problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.

The session closed with a powerful call to action, encouraging the girls to pursue their tech dreams fearlessly, ask questions, and stay curious about the ever-changing digital world.
