Oracle Academy, led by Program Manager, Sub Saharan Africa, Bekere Amassoma, had the privilege of hosting a distinguished group of delegates as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum 2025. This “Award in Action” field visit, held on November 20, 2025, at Oracle’s office in Ikoyi, Lagos, formed a key part of a prestigious global event and reinforced Oracle Academy’s commitment to educational innovation, youth development, and community impact.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum is the premier global gathering of the International Award Association, held to determine the strategic direction, growth, and development of the youth achievement program. It is a Non-Formal Education and Learning framework supporting young people to find their purpose, place, and passion in the world. In more than 120 countries, its globally recognized accreditation is available to all 14- to 24-year-olds, inclusive of all backgrounds, locations, cultures, and abilities. Founded in 1956, the award highlights the value of Non-Formal Education and Learning.

As a Supporting Partner for the Forum, Oracle Academy organized a dynamic program for 40 international participants. The visit began with a tour of Oracle’s office, followed by interactive learning sessions led by Oracle experts. Topics included Leveraging Cloud-Based Participant Management and Data Analytics to Drive Impact, facilitated by Jeffry Amachree, Master Principal Account Cloud Engineer, Oracle, and Building Future-Ready Skills and Careers Through Oracle Certification by Lex van der Werff, Service Solution Architect, CSS, Oracle University. 

The delegates engaged in icebreakers, actively participated in discussions, and provided valuable feedback before rounding out the visit with a group photo and expressions of gratitude.

A highlight of the event was the remarkable diversity of the visiting delegates. The group represented more than 20 countries across five continents, reflecting the Forum’s international reach and commitment to global collaboration. Countries represented included Nigeria, United Kingdom, South Korea, Turkey, Cameroon, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Germany, Gibraltar, The Gambia, Romania, Canada, Uganda, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Australia, Indonesia, Lesotho, Kenya, Togo, Guinea, Zambia, Nepal, Saint Lucia, Sri Lanka, Ivory Coast, China, Malaysia, and Slovenia. The participants brought unique perspectives from their home regions, fostering rich intercultural exchange and collaboration.

The partnership between Oracle Academy and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum exemplifies how cross-sector collaboration can drive positive change through technology and education. Echoing the sentiments of the organizers, this initiative provided delegates with firsthand insight into Oracle’s work and highlighted the transformative impact of educational leadership and innovation.
