Oracle Academy hosted a Reboot Culture workshop, Rebuilding Knowledge in the Digital Future, at the Oracle office in Rome on March 26, 2026. The workshop focused on students building platform architecture, developing core features, and defining the user interface.

In previous meetings, the work was primarily focused on exploration and design, but this workshop marked a clear shift in pace, where students’ vision became reality.

One of the most striking aspects to emerge from the workshop was the significance of design decisions. Creating a digital platform isn’t just about “adding features”—it’s about determining what is truly essential. The students had to contend with real-world constraints: limited time, technical complexity, and the need to maintain consistency between the original concept and its development.

This led each team to make significant progress in design maturity. Some streamlined the user experience to enhance effectiveness, while others concentrated on a distinctive feature to give the platform its identity.

Another central theme was user experience. The envisioned platforms need to be not only functional, but also intuitive, accessible, and engaging. The students considered how users will navigate the content, discover new topics, and interact with each other.

This is crucial for a project like Reboot Culture, whose goal goes beyond simply distributing content: it aims to create spaces for dialogue and shared learning. In this way, technology becomes a tool to foster relationships, spark curiosity, and make culture a vibrant, lived experience.

The platforms are beginning to take tangible shape, with features being defined, and the projects’ identities are becoming clearer. Most importantly, students’ awareness is growing: designing for the digital space means taking responsibility for one’s choices.

At the next session, dedicated to the final pitch, teams will be asked not only to complete their work, but also to present it. Because in Reboot Culture, it’s not just about what is built, but also about the ramifications for the user, capacity for change, and teaching of digital skills via Oracle Academy.
