Oracle Academy held an Oracle Academy Cloud & Career Center Day on September 26, 2024, in collaboration with Multimedia University of Kenya. This engaging event was designed to introduce students to the Oracle Academy Cloud Program, cloud curriculum, and Oracle Academy Career Center. The event focused on a three-hour session titled ‘Getting started with Oracle Cloud,’ followed by ‘Oracle Academy’s learning resources and Career Center,’ and ‘Tips for success with Gen O’ presentations.

The Oracle Cloud session gave students hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), covering essential cloud computing concepts like virtual machines and application development. The students explored how cloud technologies are transforming industries and learned how to use Oracle Cloud’s tools to enhance their skills. This session was crucial in preparing students for careers in IT, software development, cloud infrastructure engineering, and other cloud-based roles.

The Oracle Academy Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Foundations I and II curriculum helps students build core knowledge of cloud computing, and then takes a deeper dive into OCI concepts and terminology.

The demand for computing skills is prevalent across various industries, leading to higher-paying job opportunities for those with these in-demand skills. Educators can support students’ success through the Oracle Academy Career Center, available via the Member Hub. The Career Center provides free, career-focused learning modules from Oracle University, the Oracle Learning Library, and Oracle developer teams. It helps learners connect their academic studies to career paths while offering access to professional training, including options for Oracle professional certifications. Students can utilize free preparation resources and even take the exam for the OCI Foundations Associate certification.

Following the Career Center session, the ‘Tips for Success with Gen O’ session provided practical career advice tailored for young, aspiring, soon-to-be graduates. Students received guidance on personal development, career planning, and standing out in the job market. They also received insights on networking, adaptability, and continuous learning, which are key skills for succeeding in the fast-evolving tech industry.

The Oracle Academy Cloud & Career Center Day equipped students not only with cloud computing knowledge but also offered them strategies for professional success. By blending technology education with career advice, Oracle Academy is helping students build the skills and confidence they need to excel in today’s competitive job market. This event showcased Oracle Academy’s ongoing commitment to preparing the next generation of tech professionals.
