Engineering and construction plays a vital role in supporting the growth and development of a country’s economy as well as in improving the quality of life for citizens.

To support growth of the industry and student knowledge and skills, Oracle Academy organized a student bootcamp on construction and engineering to equip students with knowledge on how to achieve efficiency in construction and engineering project management.

The event was held on November 15, 2022, and explored cost-effective advantages of using the Primavera software in project management. The theme of the camp was ‘Construction & Engineering Project Management with Oracle Primavera,’ and had in attendance over 350 students from both private and public universities in Ghana.

Danny Gooris, Director, Oracle Academy EMEA, greeted participants, and Annick Sakho, Country Leader, Oracle Cote d’Ivoire & Cloud Cluster Leader – Africa, encouraged them to take learning seriously and take advantage of every opportunity available to them.

Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa, welcomed participants and gave an overview of Oracle Academy and how students can benefit from it. She emphasized why technology knowledge and skills are key, and added that bootcamps like this can help accelerate students’ careers in project management.

The highly interactive training session was led by Darko Jureković, Program Manager, Oracle Academy EMEA. He discussed:

  • Introduction to project management trends
  • Project management fundamentals using Primavera P6
  • Perspectives and resources that Oracle Academy provides on Primavera P6

Eva McEneaney, Gen O Project Manager, EMEA, Oracle, took participants through the Gen O program and other helpful programs available.

David Owino, Principal Sales Consultant, Oracle University, took participants through Oracle University offerings, Student Learning Subscriptions, and the various opportunities available to students.

Some students expressed their delight and shared feedback at the end of the bootcamp. Benedict Kofi Amofah, final year student of Geomatic Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, said, “The bootcamp was successful and very educative. I have learned how Oracle proffers solutions aimed at enhancing productivity through the cloud and other IT solutions.”

Thank you to all our speakers for sharing their time and expertise with the students.
