It is always inspiring to see someone return to where their journey began — especially when they return to give back. Recently, Oracle colleague Eduard-Wilhem Palcu, Senior Engineer, CSS Tech Delivery, Fusion Middleware, did just that by volunteering at his former university, “Stefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, Romania.

Eduard graduated from the university, and the experience had a lasting impact on both his career and personal growth. Now, years later, he returned to contribute to deliver a workshop focused on Oracle Fusion Middleware technologies and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. During the visit, he shared his experiences since graduating and offered valuable guidance to current students.

Eduard left a strong impression on everyone involved, including the Oracle Academy educator member who invited him to present, but also on the former professors who saw him again, but in an employee position, a good example for students.

“First of all, I would like to thank you and Eduard for your willingness to support this workshop,” said Prof. Mirela Danubianu, Computers Department at the university. “In my opinion (and I am sure in the opinion of the colleagues and students who participated) it was an extremely interesting event in which not only technical issues were addressed but also those related to the evolution of the IT sector, employment trends in the AI era, and many other topical issues.”

Giving back to one’s university is about more than nostalgia — it’s about helping the next generation succeed. As Eduard said, “Through the Oracle Academy program, I had the pleasure of returning to “Stefan cel Mare” University of Suceava — the place where I completed my bachelor’s degree — to deliver a workshop focused on Oracle Fusion Middleware technologies and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The event brought together technology-driven students eager to understand how to translate theoretical knowledge into real-world enterprise applications,” he said.

“During the session, I presented the architecture of WebLogic Server, best practices for configuration, and delivered a live demo showcasing the deployment of a Java EE application in Oracle Cloud, using OCI instances and WebLogic from the Marketplace. This initiative was a great opportunity to contribute to the educational growth of future professionals and to strengthen the partnership between Oracle and the academic environment in Romania. I’m grateful I was able to offer students a hands-on and inspiring experience — right in the place where my own professional journey began.”

We are proud of Eduard for incorporating the spirit of mentorship and service. His story reminds us that we all have something valuable to offer — especially when we share our time and experience with those following in our footsteps.

We want to say thank you — and to keep the cycle of learning and support alive. Kudos to our colleague Eduard for leading by example!
