Oracle Academy proudly congratulates Računarska Gimnazija high school, Serbia, on its 20th anniversary and extends heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding collaboration that has shaped nearly two decades of progress in computer science education. This long-term cooperation has empowered students, supported educators, and significantly contributed to the development of digital skills in Serbia.
Representing Oracle Academy at the anniversary celebration was Ljiljana Krkić, Oracle Academy Program Manager, who attended the event held on November 18, 2025, at Dom Vojske in Belgrade. The ceremony reflected the spirit and values of the school: community, excellence, and dedication to education.
The event was opened by the school’s principal, Duša Vuković, who spoke about the school’s future and thanked everyone for being part of “the story of Računarska Gimnazija—a school that is loved.” Former and current educators who shaped the school from its earliest days addressed the audience, including the first long-serving principal, Branislav Đurđevac, and teachers Branislava Bajković-Lazarević, Dušan Tošić, Srđan Ognjanović, and Miodrag Đurišić, whose reflections added depth and warmth to the celebration.
Long-term collaboration
Our cooperation began in 2006, when Računarska Gimnazija became the first high school in Serbia to join Oracle Academy. That same year, Branislava Bajković-Lazarević completed the first instructor training in Tallinn, establishing the foundation for the integration of Oracle Academy curricula and certifications into the school’s teaching program. Her pioneering work opened opportunities for generations of students who would go on to achieve remarkable results.
Over the years, Oracle Academy courses expanded from foundational database technology to Java programming and introductory machine learning. Dozens of students have earned internationally recognized certificates each year. In 2016, Računarska Gimnazija students were among the first globally to achieve the Database Foundations Certified Junior Associate credential. Among those early achievers were Jelena Jeremić and Nikola Tasić, who have since returned to the school as teachers—an achievement that reflects the full circle of this collaboration. You can see the story about their achievement of certificates on the website of Računarska Gimnazija, here: https://rg.edu.rs/oracle-2/
We were delighted to publish a detailed member success story about above-mentioned Nikola Tasić.
Students excel
Računarska Gimnazija students also have excelled internationally. In 2008, students earned fourth place at the Oracle Academy Global Data Modeling Competition. In 2011, teams presented outstanding projects such as Solar Storms and Aggression at Oracle Academy & ThinkQuest Day in Belgrade, demonstrating creativity, innovation, and strong technical knowledge.
Our collaboration has been enriched by exceptional educators. Duša Vuković and Stanka Matković have served as instructors in Oracle Academy’s international and regional training programs, leading workshops for teachers in Serbia, Montenegro, and in cities such as Prague, Vienna, and Istanbul. Their dedication has strengthened teaching communities across the region. In addition, Duša Vuković regularly presents at the Digital Education conference alongside Ljiljana Krkić from Oracle Academy, contributing to national discussions on technology education. See stories from those events on our blog.
Oracle Academy is grateful for the trust, commitment, and collaborative spirit that have defined our work with Računarska Gimnazija. We look forward to continuing our joint mission of empowering students and teachers, expanding access to high-quality computer science education, and building the next generation of IT innovators.
