The “EDB StartUP” National Database Modelling Competition is now in its third edition, organized by Adfaber.org, together with the Tudor Vianu National College of Informatics, Bucharest, and sponsored by Oracle Academy.

Students learn database modelling with the help of the Oracle Academy platform, and through this competition, students can test, validate, and showcase what they have studied and be recognized for their efforts.

The EDB StartUP National Database Modelling Competition is one of the best ways for students to gain real-world experience, push themselves out of their comfort zones, and validate their acquired knowledge.

With the help of the Oracle Academy platform, teachers and students have access to learning resources to develop their database modelling skills. In the 2023 edition of the EDB StartUP National Database Modelling Competition, 255 students, each in teams of three with a coordinating teacher, enrolled.

Teachers supported their students and provided the necessary guidance so they could successfully complete their projects. Later, the teams’ creations were judged by IT experts, who analysed and rewarded the students’ work. The competition jury carefully reviewed each project submitted, taking into account compliance with the theme, effort expended, project complexity, and creativity.

This year’s competition included both experienced participants who already knew the basics of database modelling as well as students who have just discovered this opportunity and transformed their time spent at home on their computers into a learning experience.

The competition opens the way to future employment opportunities and is an excellent way to learn the best practices. When students work in a team and compete with others to solve real-world problems, they receive immediate feedback on their work.
