The Oracle Lagos and Abuja offices were filled with excitement on August 23, 2024, as Oracle Academy hosted the Next Gen Robotics Bootcamp for employees’ children, aged 3-17. For three hours, these young minds were immersed in a world of creativity and technology, engaging in activities designed to pique their interest in robotics and programming.

This unique bootcamp was organized with the goal of introducing children to the interesting world of robotics, while providing hands-on learning experiences.

The bootcamp began with a simple, engaging introduction to the basics of robotics and programming, which sparked curiosity among the participants. They had the opportunity to build their own robotic models and code simple commands with the guidance of expert instructors. The children collaborated in small teams to solve various challenges, allowing them to explore problem-solving techniques while working on their group projects. The instructors were on hand throughout the bootcamp, offering guidance and ensuring the learning experience was both educational and fun.

In his remarks, Segun Ajayi, Oracle Nigeria Country Leader, highlighted the importance of early exposure to technology. He stated, “Our goal with the Next Gen Robotics Bootcamp is to inspire the next generation of innovators, particularly our kids. By introducing children to robotics at a young age, we can equip them with the tools they need to navigate a digital world and become future leaders in tech. These children hold the key to a smarter and brighter future.”

Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, SSA, said, “We can see from what has been done today, that coding can be so much fun! The participants have learned a lot more about robotics, and we hope they can build even bigger robots someday.”

By providing young minds with the opportunity to explore robotics in a hands-on practical environment, this bootcamp will help plant the seeds of future tech leaders, innovators, and problem solvers.

Oracle Academy remains committed to fostering tech education and looks forward to hosting more engaging events that empower youth with the digital skills needed for tomorrow’s world.
