Oracle Academy was pleased to participate in the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) International Conference 2024, held from August 12 – 15, 2024, at Port Harcout, Rivers State, Nigeria. The conference, themed Technological Solutions for Smart Economy, gathered industry leaders and experts from across Nigeria and beyond to explore the intersection of technology, business, and society. It provided a platform for networking opportunities, cocreation and collaboration, sharing experiences, mentorship, knowledge circulation, and stimulating conservations on emerging technologies.
This year’s theme centered around the importance of digital transformation, and it was an honor for Oracle Academy to co-chair a session focused on Business, Youth, and Entrepreneurship. Discussions during the session were centered on how Nigeria’s vast youth population can drive innovation and economic growth, emphasizing the critical role of technology in shaping the future. The speakers delved into key issues that directly impact young entrepreneurs, including access to resources, mentorship, and the integration of digital skills into business development.
Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub Saharan Africa, Bekere Amassoma, also presented on Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation for a Smarter Economy in Nigeria. This presentation focused on the role of digital innovation in fostering entrepreneurship and building a smarter, more resilient economy.

She emphasized the need for more accessible digital education, particularly in coding, AI, and cybersecurity, to empower young people to create innovative solutions for real-world problems. Bekere reiterated that Oracle Academy curriculum and other teaching and learning resources can help bridge this digital education gap, and she encouraged interested qualified teachers to sign up.
