We’ve just released the Oracle Solaris 11.4 SRU45. It is available via ‘pkg update’ from the support repository or by downloading the SRU from My Oracle Support Doc ID 2433412.1.

This SRU adds the following new features or modified interfaces:

  • Live Memory Reconfiguration for Kernel Zones on SPARC
  • PF supported in solaris10(7) branded zones
  • compcom section class keyword for elfcompress, ld, and strip
  • Generic in-kernel I/O Resiliency (IOR) events
    • This is leveraged by the LDoms vHBA vsan module to provide support for I/O resiliency, so that a SCSI HBA iport encapsulated by vsan can have its PF taken down without impacting IO domains hosting associated VFs.
  • Zstandard (zstd) fast compression algorithm
  • PHP 8.1.0 has been added
  • ZFS File Retention
  • New sstoreadm -a option to purge all SSIDs
  • rw_enter_sig(9F): interruptible kernel rwlock
  • vmstat(8) now uses Statistics Store as the data source
  • New SMF service for NTP monitoring
  • mremap(2): re-map pages of memory
  • i40e support for additional models of Intel X710 NICs
  • login-time quota checking is now off by default for NFS client filesystems
  • Improved performance of virtio drivers for OCI deployments
