PeopleSoft 8.62 introduces a great new way to reduce the cost of managing your PeopleSoft applications. The new Customization Insights dashboards will provide a deeper understanding of how customizations impact you. They will empower you to answer critical questions like:
- “How customized am I?”
- “Which customizations have been impacted by maintenance the most?”
- “Are my customizations being used?”
Unlocking Insights
The Customization Insights dashboards combine your customization data with the new enhanced PUM metadata that will be delivered in the 8.62-based PeopleSoft Images. By combining this data, you can identify historical customization impacts and upcoming impacts for maintenance that you have yet to apply. Like any PeopleSoft Insight Dashboard, you can filter the Customization Insights to focus on specific products, remove unused or used objects, and more.
Unused Customizations
Enabling Usage Monitor in your production system will allow you to identify unused customizations that might be candidates for removal. The Customization Insights can also capture your Test environment usage data to tell you if customizations are being tested. By combining both production and test usage data, we can show where you are testing customizations that are no longer used in production.
Identifying Costly Customizations
The primary focus of Customization Insights is to help you find expensive customizations. The “Customization Impacts” and “Recustomization Effort” visualizations use enhanced PUM metadata to identify the total impacts on your customizations. These graphs will also show you the number of times your customizations were impacted by a delivered change from PeopleSoft. The “Recustomization Effort” heat map visualization will provide a history of customization impacts and future impacts if you’re not on the latest image.
Get Started with Customization Insights
You can start using the Customization Insights once your environment is upgraded to PeopleTools 8.62 and your application releases its first 8.62-based PeopleSoft Update Image. Customization Insights Dashboards will be released and updated using the PeopleSoft Update Images.
