PeopleSoft offboarding was delivered in PeopleSoft HCM Image 32. When we released offboarding we focused on the two use cases of voluntary terminations and involuntary termination. Times have changed and today organizations find themselves needing a flexible framework that allows for many different types of offboarding and onboarding of employees.
PeopleSoft offboarding built on top of PeopleSoft activity guide composer allows for the flexibility that organizations are looking for during this time. With the activity guide composer, organizations can create a new template for any type of separation of employment, even if that separation is temporary. The challenge that organizations find facing them today is a consistent way to furlough employees while maintaining contact with employees to bring them back when the time comes. Organizations want to make sure that employee contact information is up-to-date and that the message distributed to furloughed employees is timely and consistent.
By setting up a new template organization can ensure that they are communicating the correct information. Organizations can add steps such as:
- A video
- Contact information
- Manager checklist
- Payroll or benefits information, as may be needed
In order to utilize offboarding functionality within the PeopleSoft system, you will want your technical team to verify the trigger is activated and is processing correctly. You can navigate to the event registry and verify that the delivered handler is active.
Navigation: Enterprise Components > Events & Notifications > Event Framework > Event Registry.
Search for Event Name = AssignmentTerminated

To setup the offboarding templates by clicking on Enterprise Components -> Activity Guide Composer -> Templates

The last thing you will want to ensure is that the correct template is assigned based on the action and action reason that you are utilizing for furloughed employees. This can be done by navigating back to enterprise components -> Activity Guide Composer -> Utilities -> Template Assignment

The goal of utilizing PeopleSoft offbording when furloughing employees should be to present the organization in a consistent way to all employees while maintaining communication rigor. PeopleSoft HCM gives customers the ability to manage the workforce in a way that is unique to each customer while maintaining crucial employment data that can be used to make organizational decisions.
