In this episode, listen to Robbin Velayedam and guests Paul Taylor and Andrew Bediz of Gideon Taylor / IntraSee chat about chatbots, BLUEPRINT 4D, and important factors to consider before making a plan to transition to the Cloud.
Post the introductory discussion, the conversation shifts to the recent BLUEPRINT conference and the attendees' experiences. Both Paul and Andrew talk about how they were pleasantly surprised as to how the conference turned out. They both thought that the conference was cohesive, vibrant, and dynamic, with an excellent turnout of attendees from clients, customers, vendors, and the Oracle team.
For me the most interesting part of this episode is this section where the guests discuss the shift in focus by PeopleSoft customers towards getting the most value out of PeopleSoft and getting smaller wins rather than investing large sums of money. The guests advise customers to be clear about their reasons for contemplating various Cloud strategies and to think about what they hope to achieve and the costs involved. They go on to talk about two important things that customers should consider before transitioning to the cloud. The first is the need to sort through their current portfolio of business processes and identify which are bad, neutral, or brilliant, as they evaluate how these processes can be adapted to the new platform. This can help them identify their competitive advantages and maintain their innovation portfolio. The second is that customers should move to the cloud based on actual features and how they can run their organization more efficiently, rather than being swayed by hype or buzzwords like "Cloud." They need to focus on whether or not the cloud application actually brings more business functionality than their current system.
The latter part of this episode features discussion on the benefits of investment in emerging technologies like chatbot and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Also touching upon concerns about the emerging technology replacing human jobs.
Robbin concludes this episode asking each of the guests “what’s the one thing [that they] would advise a PeopleSoft customer when it comes to their PeopleSoft environment…”
