At the Blueprint 4D (BP4D) conference last year, we announced that PeopleSoft plans to support OpenSearch as our search provider replacing Elasticsearch. You can read more about the announcement in this blog post.
It is that time of the year again. We just attended the Blueprint 4D conference last week, which was a lot of fun! The PeopleSoft Strategy team was excited to see our customer and partner community in person. Everyone was enthusiastic and energetic to learn, collaborate, and network with each other.
At BP4D 2023, we explained how seamlessly OpenSearch/OpenSearch Dashboards would fit in and work with PeopleSoft - including the migration process. We announced that support for OpenSearch/OpenSearch Dashboards is planned for this summer in PeopleTools 8.60 and this fall in PeopleTools 8.59. It is coming soon!
We also showed the search and analytics user experience in a PeopleSoft environment using OpenSearch to demonstrate that the change will be transparent to the end users. This is effectively a simple maintenance activity similar to past upgrades from one version of Elasticsearch (ELK) to another. The migration does not require any re-indexing, re-deployment, etc.; everything will be copied over as part of the maintenance.
Our message to customers is to continue implementing and using search and analytics as usual. And switch over to OpenSearch as soon as possible once it is generally available.
Please review the following My Oracle Support (MOS) documents for more information on our move to OpenSearch.
