Fluid Position Management’, a feature released in PeopleSoft HCM PUM Image 29 allows organizations to provide a modern way for administrators to create new positions, search for positions and maintain position data.

Fluid Position Management is a modernized, simplified, and enhanced version of classic Position Data.

Below is a list of new capabilities delivered with Fluid Position Management:

  • New Fluid tiles to access modernized Position Data and other important Position Management transactions
  • Effective Sequence with Position Data to track multiple position data changes for different Reasons as of the same Effective Date (this was the number 1 request from Position Management customers on the Ideas Space)
  • Fluid Configurable Search Page to provide a modern experience when searching for a position or adding a new position
  • Administrators can view a single page summary of all Position Data changes and perform important actions like Add a Row, Edit Existing Rows, View Details, Delete, and see Approval Chain
  • New easy-to-follow Guided Process for creating a new Position or updating existing Position Data
  • Ability to configure steps using Activity Guide Composer
  • Ability to hide and default filed values based on user, role, or action reason using Page & Field Configurator
  • Ability to Attach Supporting Documents for Position Data changes
  • New Summary of Changes to review changes before saving
  • New Related Information panel to add links and content in Position Data
  • Configurable Approval Processes for creating a new position or updating existing position details
  • Ability to maintain your customizations using Drop Zones available on top and bottom of each of the Position Data pages

In PeopleSoft HCM Image 33, Fluid Position Management was enhanced to include the ‘Manage Primary Incumbents’ enhancement. Manage Primary Incumbents enhancement allows Position Administrators to access a new fluid page where they can search for a position, review the list of current incumbents of a position and mark one of them as a Primary Incumbent. Having a Primary Incumbent in a managerial position ensures that any approvals routed to such positions are routed to the correct approver. The Manage Primary Incumbents feature provides Position Administrators more power to maintain managerial information for a position using the new Fluid user interface.

White & Case

White & Case, in conjunction with their partner Version1, went live with PeopleSoft fluid position management as well as the primary incumbent functionality. White & Case chose fluid position management because they needed the ability to utilize effective sequence while updating position information. White & Case also found great value in being able to mark the primary incumbent of a position, which is something they had not been able to do in the past by utilizing classic position management capabilities.

SavaSeniorCare

One of the largest U.S. providers of skilled nursing, memory care, and rehabilitative services—SavaSeniorCare—deployed Fluid Position Management. In so doing, they were able to remove some legacy customizations. One advantage of Fluid Position Management is that it allows effective sequencing to flow from the position to the job record. This reduces the number of correction mode activities for SavaSeniorCare HR Administrators while improving the historical accuracy and auditability of their position records.

Jubilant Life Sciences Limited

As part of their fluid first strategy, Jubilant Life Sciences Limited, in conjunction with their partner 1218 Global, has implemented Fluid Position Management. They have used the delivered attachment framework and approvals, and have been successful in retiring customizations. They were also able to deploy the capability to review the budget before the opening of a position.
