Oracle PeopleSoft has found a way for customers to do physical inventories with nothing but the devices already in their pockets. You can now use your phone’s camera – no extra apps, no third-party scanners required!

Key Benefits of the New QR Code Functionality

  • Native Device Scanning: Scan asset barcodes or QR codes directly with your phone/tablet camera; no special apps required.
  • In-System Tag Creation: Generate, customize, and print asset tags directly from PeopleSoft, streamlining asset tracking and physical inventory management.
  • Self-Service: Departments can independently inventory their own assets—improving accuracy, distributing workload, and reducing dependency on finance or IT.
  • Real-Time Updates: Update asset locations or details on the spot; changes sync back into PeopleSoft for easy reconciliation.
  • No Added Cost: Existing PeopleSoft customers receive the functionality without needing to invest in third-party tools.

Tina recommends a phased implementation: start with high-value items like laptops or vehicles, then expand. Annual inventories are a best practice – schedule them by area or asset type for efficiency.
