Included as part of the PeopleSoft HCM software is functionality allowing the tracking of company property assigned to an employee. In many cases, this could be assets that are fixed such as laptops, phones, or equipment needed to do the employee’s job.
Setting up the company property functionality is simple and can be done in a very short amount of time. Navigate to Set Up HCM -> Product Related -> Workforce Administration -> Company Property. Here you can setup items and even assign Make/Manufacturer as well as the model number. You can group your assets by property type, and if you need to add new property types that are not pre-delivered you can add Property Types by adding values to the translate table. The field name is PROPERTY_CTGY. You can access the translate page through PeopleTools -> Utilities -> Administration -> Translate Values or through PSIDE (application designer).

Property Value tab can be used to track department information, serial number, the value of the asset, as well as asset number. In Malaysia we also allow you to track Purchase Date, Purchase Price, Benefit Value as well as life span.
Once you have setup the assets you can easily assign the assets to employees. Navigate to Workforce Administration -> Job Information -> Company Property to assign company property to an employee.
When assigning company property to an employee remember that the company property Issue Date must be equal to or greater than the effective date of the company property and the company property must be active.
