An updated Fluid Extended Absence was released in PeopleSoft HCM Image 31, and there are some big changes that are noticeable right from the start.  First off, the Extended Absence process now uses an Activity Guide to walk employees through the process.  This makes it easy for you to configure the process to meet your organization’s needs, as well as to ensure that the employee has all of the information that they need.

There are some other improvements that you should know about with the new Extended Absence feature.  First, allowing your employees to see the FMLA Eligibility page.

To enable this page the administrator will need to add it to the Country Take configuration by navigating to:  Set Up HCM > Product Related > Global Payroll & Absence Mgmt > Absence Management > Country Take, specify the country of USA, select the Absence Take, such as FMLA Maternity and enter the following row on the Configurations tab.

Another change is that employees can now attach documents and notes to the absence request before submitting it.  You can make the attachments for the Extended Absence Request viewable only by the Absence Administrator while the attachments for the associated leave, such as sick leave or vacation, viewable by the employee’s manager through configuration in the HCM Attachments Framework.

Read more about how to set up the attachments in PeopleBooks:  https://docs.oracle.com/cd/F32872_01/hcm92pbr35/eng/hcm/hhaf/task_ConfiguringAttachments-827f9e.html

Similarly, the approval for the Extended Absence Request can also be routed to the Absence Administrator while the associated leave can be routed to the employee’s manager.

We have also delivered a new Extended Absence Request tile and added it to the Time Dashboard, making it easier for employees to request an extended absence when they need it.

Once the Extended Absence has been approved by an administrator, the employee can enter their absences.

You can view a short demonstration of the Extended Absence feature in the PeopleSoft HCM Image 31 Highlights video, or try out the new Fluid Extended Absence process for yourself and see the improvements.
