The supply chain technology vendor gains a competitive edge and increases customer satisfaction after migrating to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

The challenge

“Having Oracle as an infrastructure vendor is a very good combination of capabilities and cloud offers. It gives us an advantage from an economic standpoint, because it allows us to expand and offer our product at competitive prices.”

Glenn Tosco, President, Barrdega Sistemas

Why Barrdega chose Oracle

The decision to choose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) was taken because, in addition to the ultra-fast SSDs, the offer was more cost-effective than those of its competitors. Oracle represented the perfect combination of capabilities and cloud offering. Barrdega also took into account the growth that it expects to reach, and with an architecture based on geo-redundant containers to reduce network latency, Oracle’s geographic location is strategic and favorable for its operation, strengthening the decision to choose Oracle as a technological partner.

Barrdega chose Oracle to be its infrastructure provider, with the purpose of offering a holistic set of solutions to cover a wide range of logistics operations, as well as to reduce the costs of working in the cloud and provide the necessary stability to its star product: P4 Warehouse.

Results

The migration to OCI was performed in record time. During implementation, Barrdega managed to transfer more than 60 databases in a single day. Likewise, once it started operating in the cloud, the company perceived a significant increase in customer satisfaction and managed to reduce infrastructure costs, which led to a price adjustment to be more competitive in the market.

For Barrdega, the adoption of this technology meant that in their peak season, they had the capability of having 8000 shipment  orders per day. The customer was capable of operating 24/7.

Moreover, P4 Warehouse, Barrdega’s leading solution to control and manage warehouses and inventories, is a cloud-based service that, with the migration to OCI, can also provide customers a version that is always updated. Similarly, in addition to P4 Warehouse, Oracle’s servers also host P4 Customs, a solution that documents management systems and manages customs.

After the migration to OCI, Barrdega is looking to expand its portfolio of solutions for managing a wide range of logistics and supply chain scenarios.

The deployment process was extremely agile, and Barrdega migrated all its on-premises hardware to the cloud in one day, which was a milestone for the company, because it was able quickly get back its customers, with a downtime of just a couple of hours.
