Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is one of the most comprehensive suites of business applications used by organizations of all sizes and plays a critical role in daily business operations. As such, it’s important to ensure that EBS is functioning properly at all times from both technical and business perspectives.
Oracle introduced EBS discovery and automatic topology creation in OCI Logging Analytics last year. It provided in-depth monitoring from an IT perspective. Customers loved it because it simplified setting up EBS monitoring and we have been releasing a steady stream of enhancements customers have been requesting for EBS. The number one request from customers was how to streamline business operations, and keep a tab on the functional health of critical business flows running on EBS.
We recently introduced a comprehensive set of business checks developed in collaboration with Oracle EBS experts. These checks were created based on issues reported by EBS customers in the last few years. These are a set of more than 300 SQL checks that run on a pre-defined schedule to verify the health of different business flows in EBS. Here is an example dashboard:
Oracle E-Business Suite business checks in Logging Analytics:
- GL daily balances” – This check monitors the daily balances in General Ledger (GL) module of EBS. It is used to ensure that the GL balances are accurate and up-to-date, which is critical for the financial operations of your organization.
- “AR aging buckets” – This check monitors the aging of accounts receivable (AR) in the EBS system. It is used to ensure that AR is being managed efficiently and effectively, which can help improve cash flow and support the financial health of your organization.
- “AP aging buckets” – This check monitors the aging of accounts payable (AP) in the EBS system. It is used to ensure that AP is being managed efficiently and effectively, which can help reduce costs and support the financial performance of your organization.
Additionally, when a functional issue is identified, Logging Analytics dashboards provide specific guidance and detailed steps for fixing it.
OCI Logging Analytics now provides a 360-degree view of EBS from IT, functional, and business perspectives. There are several benefits of using OCI Logging Analytics for EBS monitoring:
- Early detection of problems: You can identify and fix problems before they become major issues. This can help prevent costly downtime and ensure that EBS is running smoothly.
- Improved performance: You can identify and fix bottlenecks or other performance issues. This can help improve the overall performance of EBS and make it more efficient.
- Better business continuity: You can help ensure that EBS is available and ready to support your business.
