Oracle Enterprise Manager 13.5.0.17 download available on My Oracle Support

If you have been following the EM releases for a while, you are familiar with Release Updates (RUs). RUs are the agile way to roll out new EM features and bug fixes, you don’t have to wait for a major release. RUs are versioned with a trailing digit indicating the RU version. Note that RUs are cumulative, which means that the most recent RU includes functionality from all previous release updates. Our general recommendation is to apply the most current RU as soon as possible.

Access the download on My Oracle Support and select Patches & Updates.

Key updates in Oracle Enterprise Manager 13.5 RU17

Highlights of Enterprise Manager 13.5 RU17 include the following:

Performance Hub Reports
The Oracle Database Performance Hub, the real-time and historical performance data interface, allows you to generate, view, and download database activity reports. The reports contain data collected at the time a report is created. Access the Performance Hub report from the “Reports” menu as shown below:

ADDM Spotlight Enhancements
The ADDM Spotlight Recommendations tab allows you to view all the recommendations in a specified period.  A new default category called “All” is now available along with the “Database Parameters, “SQL”, and “Schema Objects” on the Recommendations tab:

For those using tags, you can view all your tags displayed in the summary of findings and recommendations, organized by overall impact in the specified period.  The size of the text indicates the overall impact and the color of the text corresponds to the different categories of findings and recommendations. For example, if the Top SQL Statements has the largest font, this indicates that it has the largest number of findings.  The color represents the category the tag is part of. Access the tag cloud display from the upper-right corner of the Summary section as seen below:

Auto Licensing is Now Renamed to Default Settings
The Enterprise Manager Auto Licensing option that allows you to define the management pack a new target is entitled to upon discovery, has now been renamed to “Default Settings”. The functionality remains unchanged. View this name change from the Setup menu (in the upper right corner of the page), Management Packs, and then Management Pack Access.

New CIS 1.1.0 Compliance Standards for Oracle Database 19c
The latest CIS Compliance 1.1.0 standards for Oracle Database 19c are now available. As always, these standards are available through Self Update and Configuration and Compliance standards options.

Rollback Support for Failed Fleet Maintenance Updates

Roll back update single instance or RAC database update operations that have failed. The rollback operation returns the database to the initial state.

Migration Workbench: Pre and Post-Migration Analysis Dashboards for TTS Migrations
Transportable Tablespace (TTS) migrations using Oracle Enterprise Manager’s Migration Workbench now feature Pre and Post migration detailed analysis allowing you to see a complete overview of a TTS migration.

Fleet Maintenance Patching:  Support for Parallel Shutdown of Grid Infrastructure Instances

To avoid service interruptions, patching of Oracle Grid Infrastructure is done most of the time in a rolling manner. The database instances on the node being patched are brought down while the other instances remain up on the other nodes.
This new Fleet Maintenance feature reduces the overall patching downtime by leveraging the Grid Infrastructure instance parallel shutdown capability. When services are stopped on each Grid Infrastructure node, the connected sessions have a predefined amount of time (drain) to move to another instance. The default drain timeout is specified at service creation. The user may override this value by specifying the DRAIN_TIMEOUT (in seconds) in Fleet Maintenance, shutting down instances on each node at the same time and therefore reducing the amount spent on patching each node.

Lifecycle Management: Enhanced Search functionality on the Procedure Activity page
Additional search filters have been added to the Procedure Activity page, allowing you to further refine your deployment procedure activity searches. The additional filters are Owner, Start Date From, and Start Date To.

Dashboards Export and Import
You can now export a custom dashboard with its widgets and filters in JSON format, and import it to a different environment. This allows much greater flexibility in sharing the dashboard’s data.

Dashboards:  Auto-configuration of widget inputs
Some of the widget inputs, such as Aggregate Target Name, are automatically linked to a corresponding filter. This enhancement improves usability and simplifies the widget addition to a dashboard. If you want to make changes to the widget input that is automatically linked to a filter, do so directly in the Edit Widgets tab.

Dashboards: Optional Inputs for the Group – Metrics – Line Widget
A new optional widget input, Key Aggregate Function, can be used to configure the input for the Group - Metrics - Line widget. Using this widget input option, you can aggregate multiple key metric values for a target type. Average is the default function, however, you can edit the Key Aggregate Function input and select Min, Max, or Sum functions. In addition, the Rollup Column widget input option for the Group - Metrics - Line widget can be edited with the added option of selecting the Min and Max functions.

Exadata Management:  Support to Convert SNMP V2 to V3 at scale for all hardware components
Migrate the already discovered Exadata environments configured with SNMP v2 to use SNMP v3 without having to rediscover or manually perform the related operations.

New EM CLI Verb dg_convert_standby_database
This new EM CLI verb converts a single instance Data Guard physical standby database to an administrator-managed cluster database.
