In November 2023, we were invited by “Hong Kong Association for Computer Education” HKACE to deliver a Database Workshop with a large group of secondary school teachers. It was a great time to meet up with over 100+ teachers in a very big computer hall in Hong Kong City University.
In HK secondary school education, the computer class has elective for students to choose. One of the most interested topics with the elective is Database. Our session “Running MySQL database on Cloud Workshop” shares the idea of MySQL today is more than traditional DBMS to have automation or decision support system but also the machine learning capability with data in the database.
MySQL Heatwave AutoML on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is provisioned. We shared how MySQL Heatwave performs with OLTP and OLAP, together with the Lab running Machine Learning capability on IRIS dataset as example [Ref: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/heatwave/en/mys-hwaml-iris-example.html].
PyCon HK 2023
In PyCon HK, MySQL was the Silver Sponsor of the event in HK. MySQL session on the day was about Simplification Machine Learning using MySQL HeatWave AutoML.
The simplification with MySQL Heatwave AutoML running Machine Learning allows more and more people to jump start with the leading-edge technology and predicting outcome from existing and historical dataset.
At the MySQL Booth, Dolphin as souvenir is one of the well-known to our participants. As usual every year, many people joining Pycon HK event come from not just Chinese Local people but also many foreigners (or local foreigners).
