As has been announced before, last Saturday, Oct 5th, we had a MySQL Meetup/Day in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This was a second edition of the full day of MySQL in Brazil. Last year the MySQL Day was hold on Dec 2nd in the same place as this year – Oracle office. First we would like to thank you to everyone who helped to make this event happen, especially to our MySQL Rockstar, Vincius Grippa who organized that event locally, arranged all from the registration to the refreshment, and without Vinicius there would be no MySQL Day in Brazil!

Please let us to add some event highlights:

Attendance & Attendance List

Last year, we already had a good audience of around 50 people. This year, we took it to the next level with 73 attendees, filling up every spot weeks in advance! We even had around 30 people travel from outside São Paulo – some from nearby cities and others from different states – to be part of the meetup.

Due to high demand, we curated the attendee list by checking in with those unsure about joining and accommodating people from the waitlist as spots opened up.

Event Schedule

The event kicked off at 9 AM and ran until 5 PM, featuring insightful presentations from experts across the MySQL community and Oracle. Each session lasted around 40 minutes with a 10-minute Q&A.

A resume of the agenda:

  • Oracle (Narciso Oliveira Júnior): Explore Generative AI with MySQL using HeatWave GenAI
  • ReadySet (Marcelo Altmann): Performance Optimization on MySQL using Cache
  • Percona (Jean Nunes): Percona Toolkit in the DBA’s Life
  • Community Speaker (Wagner Bianchi): MySQL Security
  • Percona (Roberto): MySQL Performance Troubleshooting with PMM
  • Oracle (Ana Paula Sales): Introducing JavaScript Support in MySQL

During coffee breaks, attendees also had the opportunity to tour Oracle’s Solution Center and learn more about Oracle’s infrastructure, including the Exadata solution.

Final Thoughts

Same as last year, we again received several positive feedbacks from the community members who participated the MySQL Day past weekend in Sao Paulo.

The event is gaining traction and solidifying its place as a key MySQL gathering in Brazil. I want to extend a special thank you to the Oracle team—Narciso, Ana, and Marcel—for their support with presentations, logistics, and organizing the Solution Center tours.

We look forward to making next year’s event even better!
