The Leapp utility simplifies updating Oracle Linux 7 systems to Oracle Linux 8 with a single, comprehensive upgrade tool. The Upgrade Oracle Linux with Leapp Luna lab is a free opportunity to practice using Leapp to update an Oracle Linux 7 system to Oracle Linux 8. In this lab, you can continue to upgrade that same system to Oracle Linux 9.
The Upgrade Oracle Linux with Leapp Luna lab provides a configured Oracle Linux environment and step-by-step instructions, enabling you to focus on learning the upgrade process.

Upgrade Oracle Linux 7 to Oracle Linux 8 and Oracle Linux 9
In the Upgrade Oracle Linux with Leapp lab, you’ll learn to update Oracle Linux 7 and 8 systems from the command line and:
- Check and modify prerequisite system settings for the upgrade
- Run a Leapp preupgrade check to verify the Oracle Linux 7 system is ready for upgrade to Oracle Linux 8
- Use Leapp to perform an upgrade of the Oracle Linux 7 system to Oracle Linux 8
- Prepare the same system again for upgrade to Oracle Linux 9
- Use Leapp to upgrade the new Oracle Linux 8 system to Oracle Linux 9
