Training Tuesday Edition - 5

This week’s blog includes a series of short videos on using Oracle Ksplice with Oracle Linux 8. Oracle Ksplice allows you to install the latest kernel and key user-space security and bug fix updates while the system is running. You don’t need to coordinate with users to schedule system down time or stop running applications. This means with Ksplice you don’t need to reboot your systems to install kernel or user-space updates.

In these videos, you will learn how to register an Oracle Linux 8 system for online mode updates with the Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN) and install the Oracle Ksplice packages. You will also learn the command line interface for the two Oracle Ksplice clients:

  • The Ksplice Enhanced Client supports both kernel and glibc and openssl user-space updates and uses ksplice commands.
  • The Ksplice Uptrack Client only supports updating the kernel and uses uptrack commands.

Here are the links to the video series:

  • video Enabling Oracle Ksplice (online mode) using Oracle Linux 8 (9 Min)
  • video Running ksplice commands (online mode) on Oracle Linux 8 (4 Min)
  • video Running uptrack commands (online mode) on Oracle Linux 8 (4 Min)
  • video Uninstalling Oracle Ksplice (online mode) using Oracle Linux 8 (6 Min)

Be sure to come back for our next edition, which will cover Remote Management.  New videos are added on an ongoing basis so check back often.
