Oracle Linux 9.3 with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) Release 7 Update 2 achieved IPv6 Ready Gold Logo accreditation and is now listed in the USGv6-r1 Product Registry after completing testing at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL).
Accreditations achieved
The IPv6 Ready Logo Program is a conformance and interoperability testing program from the IPv6 Forum. Oracle Linux 9.3 with UEK Release 7 Update 2 achieved the IPv6 Ready Phase 2 (Gold) Core Logo for Host, verifying its compatibility with IPv6 environments.
Oracle Linux is the first Enterprise Linux version 9.3 host that passed IPv6-Only Functional testing v1.1 (34687). This is one of the testing suites under the current USGv6 Revision 1 (USGv6-r1) profile, published by NIST in 2020, for IPv6-only environments. Oracle Linux demonstrated conformance with USGv6-r1 standards; review the USGv6 Profile Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) for details.
USGv6 was established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to standardize the implementation and adoption of IPv6 in the United States government. This initiative includes two parts: the development of the standards and the test suites to measure and monitor conformance to the standards.
These accreditations in IPv6 interoperability help provide confidence for Oracle Linux 9.3 customers that the operating environment is ready for deployment in IPv6 commercial and government environments. This holds significant importance for government sector customers, who can have assurance that their operating system is IPv6 ready well ahead of the US government’s deadline to move 80% of federal systems to IPv6-only networks by the end of fiscal year 2025. Other private and public agencies are likely to track what the US government does, so the popularity of IPv6-only networks could increase in the future.
