What defines the Oracle experience—technology, community, or opportunity? For Lina Albabtain, the answer is all three. Based in Saudi Arabia, Lina was determined to build her career at a workplace that supported her success. That’s why she turned to the Generation Oracle programme and landed her dream role as an advanced support engineer. Now, she’s sharing her story.
A culture fit
As a female computer science graduate, I always wanted to work somewhere that would challenge me and help me grow professionally. Culture is one of the most crucial elements in deciding whether a company is a good fit for a person, and Oracle’s reputation for innovation, diversity, and inclusion made it seem like the ideal fit for me.
I was impressed by the degree of cooperation and support I saw in the workplace when I started the GenO programme. Knowledge sharing, open communication, and transparency are prioritized in this culture. Furthermore, my ACS and GenO team members value the skills, experiences, and backgrounds of every individual.
Valuing diversity
With diversity and inclusion as core values, the company has established several initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive workforce, including employee resource groups (ERGs) focused on aspects such as gender, race, and ethnicity. These ERGs provide a supportive community for employees with similar backgrounds, and they also help to foster a culture of belonging.
Being a woman in the technology industry has not always been easy. With the digital transformation of Saudi Arabia, however, women have become more valued than ever. Oracle has followed this path, welcoming and supporting my growth and development. I have had several opportunities to learn, take on challenging assignments, and advance my career. Additionally, there is a platform for me to network with other women at Oracle and gain insight from their experiences.
Standing out in tech
Oracle also provides access to cutting-edge technology and tools that can help women technologists stay ahead of the curve. As a GenO advanced support engineer, I am particularly enthusiastic about Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). OCI is a cloud computing platform that offers a range of cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, and database services. It’s designed to provide businesses with a secure, reliable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure that can support their most demanding workloads and applications.
By delivering a comprehensive suite of solutions that cater to a wide range of industries and use cases, Oracle distinguishes itself from competitors. The company is committed to innovation and is constantly investing in new technologies and tools. With its focus on diversity and inclusion, Oracle is also able to attract and retain top talent, which is a significant advantage in a competitive industry.
My experience working with Oracle has been an empowering one. The company’s culture of diversity, innovation, and excellence is something that I value, and I would encourage other women in technology to consider joining. In this supportive environment, women can thrive, develop their skills, and make a significant impact.
