Thanks for chatting with us today, Alina. Can you tell us a little about what you do at Oracle?
Well, as a member of the Customer Success Services Data Management Team at Oracle, we work directly with client data across a wide range of projects. Our work often involves migrating data to and from the cloud, and we’re deeply involved in designing and implementing databases. We use Oracle technology in all areas of the process!
What was it like joining the team? Did you have a lot of related experience or were you starting from scratch?
I joined from a technical background, but I had a lot to learn about Oracle’s range of solutions. It was a little overwhelming at first because Oracle is such a big company. However, the onboarding, training, and guidance really helped push us into the right direction. We were taught not only technical skills but soft skills as well such as communicating with customers. Oracle’s learning resources are a mix of self-paced and group learnings, so you really are shown everything to get you started.
What’s the best part of the job?
What I value most about my role is the wealth of opportunity for continuous learning. Our team is incredible, and everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences. This creates a collaborative environment where I’m constantly exposed to new ideas and technologies, giving me the flexibility to explore different areas and deepen my expertise in the ones that interest me most. For example, even though I am part of the Database team, I still have exposure to AI projects so I can stay in the loop.
It sounds like you had the chance to be involved with some really cutting-edge projects from the very beginning. Can you tell us more about that?
During my training, I learned about Oracle’s own Generative AI (GenAI) solution and how exactly it is built and implemented. Oracle’s learning labs let you practice using GenAI to create your own projects, including AI agents. This helps to automate processes and improve user experience. Being able to play around with key components behind the surface was really intriguing.
One of my proudest moments since joining Oracle was presenting our innovation project to the Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence, a group dedicated to exploring AI solutions across the organization. Having the chance to share our team’s ideas and receive feedback from such a forward-thinking group was a key milestone in my professional journey.
That sounds impressive! Can you give some more details about your innovation project?
Of course! Our internal project combines Oracle AI and Oracle Learning Labs. With so many resources available, we harnessed the power of GenAI to give users the easiest experience when searching for the right resource. Over the course of the project, we developed a chatbot that takes an input from a user searching for a resource and outputs the result with the recommended training.
As a recent graduate, you understand the value in getting quality early-career experience. Do you have any advice for people in the same position?
