Building your dream career isn’t just about finding your passion; it’s also about finding meaningful ways to apply it. That’s what motivated Advanced Services Engineer Iulia Mitrica to take the next step with Generation Oracle (GenO). Over a year later, she’s sharing how the program set her up to thrive in our Customer Success Services (CSS) organization in France—and how it can maximize your career potential.
Driven by passion
I began my career as a researcher pursuing my PhD thesis in video compression and machine learning with the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and Safran. Driven by a passion for applicative innovation and research, I continued my postdoctoral path at the i3S laboratory in Sophia Antipolis, on the marvelous Côte d’Azur. Here, I applied advanced AI techniques to improve the DNA data storage solutions developed in the laboratory.
Driven by the desire to help and to have a bigger impact on current challenges, I decided to consider a slightly different direction—one closer to the customers’ needs. Thus, I applied to the GenO program in Oracle’s CSS organization. The process was smooth. After a few interviews and discussions, I was selected among a cohort of nearly 30 fellows and started in January 2023.
Opportunities to contribute
GenO provided courses and challenges throughout the program to help me work and improve my soft skills. This was not only important when interacting with customers but also when interacting daily with colleagues. I also had the opportunity to contribute technically when we started working on our innovative projects and took part in internal initiatives to grow the CSS organization.

What I loved the most about GenO is the fact that I had—and still have—the freedom to apply my creativity when solving problems. We were even encouraged and supported to do so.
On a different note, Oracle also allows us to invest working time in social projects as volunteers, and to propose projects for causes that are close to our hearts. I really love this, and I took the opportunity to participate in several activities distributing products for people in need or playing with hospitalized children. At the very end of my GenO program, I managed to implement with the Oracle Volunteering team in Paris a small project together with the Claude Pompidou Foundation. We had a few painting sessions with people of different ages to help them to work their artistic and social skills.

Supporting customers
During the program, I applied my knowledge on data analysis to develop and maintain dashboards for service request reporting using data visualization in Oracle Analytics. With this service, Oracle CSS can help customers reduce backlog, build trust when looking at data, and manage their activities for better decision-making.
For another customer, my team and I developed solutions to better manage workloads using the Oracle Digital Assistant. The service allowed for easier access to technology to facilitate customer activities.
Now that I am an alumna of this program, I have taken on full role responsibilities as an applications services engineer in the CSS organization, where I am part of a dynamic work environment. My aim is to drive innovative strategies and solutions to the current customer’s problems, and I am working to deepen my business acumen. My career journey has been marked by continuous growth and achievements. Each experience has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to excel in my field, and I look forward to future opportunities to grow my impact.
