At Oracle, we’re proud to be at the forefront of this revolution, with a team of dedicated experts working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our data centers running smoothly.
In an industry often dominated by male voices, Oracle is proud to showcase women in tech who are breaking stereotypes and paving the way for future generations. Alexandra Hiatt, a data center site lead at Oracle, shares her journey, offering an insightful look into the dynamic world of Oracle data centers and the inclusive culture that drives innovation.
Passion for innovation
With a background in software engineering from McGill University, her journey into the tech industry began with a summer job, where she got hands-on experience in hardware. Her passion for technology and innovation drove her career choices, leading her to Oracle, where she has been for almost four years. Today, she oversees nine crucial data center sites.
In many ways, it’s been a learning experience like no other. Certainly, she’s never had access to such a concentration of talented professional before.
“I have had the privilege of working with exceptional talent and thought leaders in the industry. This experience has reinforced my passion for innovation and showcased how collaboration can drive technological advancements on a global scale,” she adds.
Inclusion is key
One of the aspects that attracted Alexandra to Oracle was its reputation for leadership in cloud infrastructure and software solutions. However, it was the company’s commitment to inclusivity and its meticulous hiring process that sealed the deal.
“The recruitment process was very supportive and structured,” Alexandra observes. The multi-faceted approach to talent acquisition focuses not only on assessing technical expertise but also evaluating the cultural fit and alignment with the organization’s established best practices. Oracle’s way of ensuring fairness and having an advocate for the applicant is impressive.”
This dedication to workplace inclusion, where all perspectives are valued, is clear all across the company. It’s also had a major impact on her career.
“Oracle’s culture has offered growth and development opportunities that may not have been accessible elsewhere. The most notable way would be my experience of an equal input from everyone and working with many different types of personalities that all give a unique perspective and allow everyone to come together on a problem.”
Solutions can come from anywhere in an environment like this—and often do. It means that Alexandra gets to network and collaborate with a huge range of departments and regions. As a result, her confidence has grown and so has the scope of her projects.

“We are continually seeing more advanced GPU hosts coming into the data centers, which are supporting the AI boom every day. The multi-cloud offerings are new and exciting and provide a whole different type of service to our customers that I have been very pleased to help impact.”

As a woman in tech, Alexandra has also found groups like Oracle Women’s Leadership (OWL), to be game-changing. OWL has empowered her to create her own personal brand and feel a sense of community within the larger organization.
“OWL has been pivotal in helping me create my own brand, feel more empowered, and to have a greater sense of community. It provides yet another level of support as a woman in tech.”
Her advice for others considering a career at Oracle is clear: “It is a great place to work on both a personal and professional level.
