VETS Indexes is a leading voice on veteran employment issues and hosts the twice-yearly Employing US Vets Conference. A VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer is a company that has proven beyond doubt its commitment to hiring, retaining, and supporting veteran employees. These employers are recognized by the US Department of Labor for their efforts in empowering veteran careers.

Making the cut
A record 344 organizations participated in the awards this year. Competitors consisted of large and small companies, government agencies and departments, non-profits, colleges, and universities. Not everyone made the cut, but those that did demonstrated tangible dedication to veteran growth.
The in-depth survey analyzed and rated employer policies, practices, and outcomes in detail, across five main categories:
- Veteran job candidate recruiting and hiring
- Veteran employee development and retention
- Veteran-inclusive policies and culture
- Support for members of the National Guard and Reserves
- Military spouse and family support
Honoring service
To earn a five-star rating, Oracle needed to impress in all five areas. In doing so, we proved that we understand the unique challenges veterans face when transitioning back to civilian life. We also demonstrated our commitment to nurturing an inclusive and supportive workplace that honors service.
It’s a commitment goes beyond just hiring veteran candidates; it also includes providing resources such as additional training and educational opportunities so they can reach their full professional potential.
Our dedicated programs run the full range of veteran experiences, from workplace transitions to specific career path development.
- Department of Defense SkillBridge introduces veterans to corporate life with an introduction to fields including engineering, consultancy, and leadership.
- Oracle Veteran Internship Program (OVIP) is a quarter-long internship with hands-on training in technology, data, logistics, HR, and sales.
- SuiteVets helps the military community find their feet in the corporate world and launch successful technology careers as part of NetSuite.
- Oracle VetTech Academy is a 12-week program that puts participants right in the heart of our cutting-edge cloud infrastructure team in a full-time position.
- Sales for Veterans jumpstarts sales careers by teaching the fundamentals of sales strategy as part of a working sales team.
- Forging communities
While training matters to professional success, it’s not the only factor. Without a strong culture and support from likeminded people, veteran potential wouldn’t be able to take root at Oracle the way it has. That’s where our employee resource groups (ERGs) come in—specifically the Military Affiliated Veteran Employee Network (MAVEN).
Our ERGs are powerful forces for representation and change, and MAVEN is no different. This tightknit group of people supercharges veteran career potential at Oracle with mentorship and networking opportunities that put veterans in command of their careers. It’s also vital to providing a support network for making those ambitions come true.
