Thanks for catching up with us today, Abdullahi. Can you tell us a little bit about your team and what it does?

I am part of the Customer Success Services (CSS) team at Oracle, where we support customers using Oracle Applications and SaaS products. We handle upgrades, enhancements, configurations, and supply 24-hour support to ensure customers can fully leverage Oracle’s solutions.

What’s the best thing about working on the Customer Success Services team?

The most exciting aspect is definitely becoming a trusted partner for customers. We help them improve their time to value with expert guidance that maximizes their return on investment. Building these relationships and seeing their impact is extremely rewarding.

That’s a great result for customers and your resume. In what other ways have you grown during the program?

Professionally, I have honed my skills as an engineer, gaining in-depth knowledge of Oracle’s technology stack. Personally, the program has enhanced my ability to build strong customer relationships. This has allowed me to position myself as a trusted engineer and business partner.
I have also had access to a variety of training programs through Oracle University, LinkedIn Learning, and O’Reilly. These platforms allow me to continuously develop skills aligned with my career aspirations.

It sounds like you get to collaborate very closely with customers, can you tell us more about the kind of impact you mentioned?

Well, as an Advanced Service Engineer, I help our customers make well-informed decisions on the adoption, management, and use of Oracle technologies. This allows me to directly influence their business outcomes, ensuring they achieve their goals and stay ahead of their competitors.

That does sound impactful! What Oracle technologies are you most excited about right now?

I’m particularly excited about Oracle Generative AI. It’s incorporated across our entire stack, enabling our customers to grow their businesses rapidly and optimize performance. It signifies our commitment to innovation and staying ahead of the technology curve.
Most recently, I have worked on an AI SaaS project and the supplier qualification management configuration and setup for a finance customer in Rwanda. I wouldn’t have been ready for these projects without the training and certifications I gained through GenO. They’ve certainly prepared me for many real-world challenges and successes.

It sounds like you have lots of independence in your role. Does that mean you’re expected to work by yourself or without much support?

Not at all! From day one, my manager and the buddy program have given me immense support. My manager has helped me navigate Oracle’s technology stack, setting clear goals and milestones. The buddy program paired me with a senior engineer who has been invaluable in answering questions and offering guidance related to my training and responsibilities. This structured support system has played a crucial role in my development, ensuring that I have the necessary tools and mentorship to succeed.
